  • Excellent High Zoom camera. Great quality photos. Fast zoom. Easy to hold and use. Would recommend. Excellent High Zoom camera. Great quality photos. Fast zoom. Easy to hold and use. Would recommend.
This is a great camera. As I was visiting the Teton's the other day and a guy I was speaking with had his Nikon 850 with 45 mp and 600mm lens mounted on a tripod, I was grateful that my camera zoomed 3x the amount of his. An expensive camera is nice if you can SEE the subject, but if you can't, it doesn't matter how much detail you can get. Amazingly, this camera with only 16 mp delivers comparable photos to my Sony dsc-hx400v with it's 20 mp. Not only does it take great photos, but it takes even better video. It has preset "bird" and "moon" modes. I say this because a couple of reviewers were slamming the camera because it didn't have a bird mode, but it does on the selector dial. It takes great photos of the moon. I've never seen it so close except through a telescope. You can see amazing detail. The moon shots here are not as good as another nights shots, but hopefully you can still get the idea. I got this camera because many of the wildlife shots I attempt are at great distances here in Idaho, in Yellowstone, and in the Grand Tetons. My Sony could capture them, but not at the level this camera does. I will attach some photos so you can see and if it let's me, a video of a moose, at approx 75 yards away, in low light (dusk) walking through a creek. Notice the pic of the Teton's mountain tip. One shot is starts at the normal view and the other shots progressively zoom out. It is a zoom photo of the peak. The last zoom photo doesn't even look like it's the same peak from the first photo. Not very many cameras give you that kind of zoom power. It is easy to handle, even one handed for quick shots, and the view finder gives very good likeness of the scene. The scene pre-selections seem to work well from what little I have tested them. So far, really impressed with this camera and appreciate other reviews that helped me make this purchase decision for myself. The Amazon refurbished program delivered again! Thanks Amazon. Would recommend the camera and refurbished. Camera performs like new and looks new. I have UV filter and telephoto converter on their way. If you're looking for something so that you do not have to carry a heavy big camera and extra lenses, this is a good alternative and takes pretty good pics and excellent video. ... show more

  • Still my 'go to' Camera. Still my 'go to' Camera.
Style: Camera Only
I shoot a couple hundred shots each time I go out birding/nature shooting and I go out 4-5 times a week. After 4 and a half years and 1/4 million shots/videos my old P950 had seen better days. Back screen was replaced once and is now shot again (do not use in the rain), grips replaced several times and the mounting screw stripped. It was time. I have bought many (Renewed) major brand products in the last couple of decades. This just means they had an original issue and it has been repaired and tested back to factory specs. I already had plenty of memory cards and extra batteries so 10 minutes after I got the camera we were off and running. Worked flawlessly! If you are a 'birder' this camera works like a 2000mm scope. Only it shoots Hi Res photos and 4K Video.... and you don't need to lug a tripod around! All these shots are hand held. These shots are at full 83x Zoom in Bird Mode (well one in Moon Mode)..... Video at about 30x (edited in Shotcut)..... I'm sure these will be 'down sized'/ compressed here but on my Flickr site they are flawless. Just remember this is not a very good 'Action Camera'... it's slow to focus... but w/ practice you WILL get most of your shots. PS..Turn off Digital Zoom... it's a gimmick.... ... show more

  • Excellent camera at a fair price
Style: Camera Only
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I wanted a newer version of the Nikon Coolpix P600. After reading reviews and comments from owners, the Coolpix P950 seemed ideal. Haven't had a chance to fully check it out yet, but it arrived in great condition for a refurbished product - it appears to be as good as new. The big difference is this camera is about twice the size of the P600 it's replacing. Still easy to carry, but takes up more space. One note for buyers from BH 52 Innovations: the camera box contained a card from registermywarranty.com - don't bother. It's nothing more than a link to a Google document where you can save your purchase information. It requires you to log in with your Google account, which may allow the website to harvest your login information. Don't do it! You can register the camera at the official Nikon site instead. ... show more

  • Great camera for a non- DSLR
Style: Camera Only
I decided to give this camera a try hoping to avoid having to buy a new zoom lens for my other Nikon DSLR camera for birding purposes. Unfortunately it wasn't going to work for what I wanted it to, which was zooming in very close and getting details with birds farther away, but it took excellent pictures otherwise. It zoomed in very well, but both you and the bird needed to be perfectly still to get a decent shot which is very rare. So I'll stick with my DSLR and get the new lens, but highly recommend this camera for anyone looking for a non-complicated higher-end point and shoot, and even an introduction to a DSLR level shooting. ... show more

  • Best all around Zoom Camera
Style: Camera Only
In my opinion, the best camera there is. Outstanding steady zoom, great pictures. Viewfinder is the best. Stays in focus for quicker shots.

  • Wildlife / Bird photographers rejoice!
Coming from a LUMIX FZ-300, this thing is a miracle. Almost four times the optical zoom of the lumix and good clarity make all the difference when you can’t get close to your subject. To be fair, contrast-based auto focus is not perfectly reliable and low light performance is reported to be only average, but for a beginner being able to point and shoot on notoriously tricky small and distant birds, this thing is a keeper. I found that image stabilization at max zoom was a little jerky, but half depressing the shutter in order to lock autofocus also made the viewfinder a lot more stable. Not in the manual, but good to know. Some folks might think refurbished is “less”, but this unit was in perfect condition and I saved a couple hundred bucks by not getting the pretty printed materials. Im not interested I. Paying a couple thousand bucks (and lbs) for a long zoom for a full-frame DSLR, so this one checks all the boxes! Ps the FZ300 had a touch screen, but they mistook that feature for “easy to navigate”. The P950 has no touch screen but is MUCH easier to navigate with a simply better menu structure. ... show more

  • Entry level camera for beginners
Style: Camera Only
its Been Really Great & very Fun but the only thing is the sensor is the same as A smart phone so after 1 yr of using it almost every weeknd for everything photos; its time to look for an apsc sensor type of camera w/ 4k 60fps w/ more than 500 auto focus points & 36 mega pixels camera.

  • I love this camera! I love this camera!
Style: Camera Only
The bird mode has been awesome for my bird photography. My last point n shoot camera had a 60x zoom, which I really liked, but it was getting old. The image quality and the amazing zoom on this are a huge upgrade! I was debating between this and the Coolpix p1000, but the size difference was what decided it for me. I love to hike with my dog and have the camera around my neck. This one isn't too heavy and doesn't get in my way. There are many features I have yet to explore, but I'm really enjoying it so far! I was also impressed with the Renewed version I received. The camera looks like new and includes all of the accessories I needed to get started. There was a strap, battery, and charging cable. Definitely worth saving a few hundred dollars! ... show more
