  • Wow! Impressive camera!
Color: Red
I am in no way a professional photographer and do not have much experience with cameras beyond cell phone cameras. That being said, I also was not in the market for a camera but have been thinking about purchasing one. I was actually browsing through Amazon and stumbled upon this camera and checked it out, which triggered me to perform some research on this camera (and others) and I kept returning to the Nikon L830. Not to mention that Nikon has a pretty good reputation from what I know. I have an older Kodak digital camera and a classic Nikon that was passed down to me but I wanted something more up-to-date and kind of in the middle of the road because I do not take many pictures and want to get into that hobby a little more. I haven't taken many pictures with the L830 yet and have yet to really dig deep and figure out what this camera can do, out of the box, this camera is amazing! It's perfect for my interests and the quality is surprising. The picture quality is great, again, as I haven't really figured this particular item out, I'm sure the quality can be sharper versus the factory settings. The view monitor can be adjusted while taking pictures at high or low positions so you know where exactly what you are aiming at. The flash is manual and what I mean by that is you have to press a button to make the flash pop up and then you can manage the flash settings. I would recommend this product to new or newer photographers or those just looking for a decent camera to take photos with. I strongly suggest downloading and reviewing the owners manual and reviewing some reviews on YouTube too, plus the Amazon reviews of course, they seem pretty accurate thus far. I will update my review after a couple months of usage. ... show more

  • For the price, this is a steal.
Color: Plum
I want to go r this camera five stars but I struggle with the focus and feel like my photos are a compromise because of it. This may be used error but another user posted the same issue. The camera's focus is blurry, you hold the shutter button halfway to make it autofocus, it looks crisp, then goes blurry again. I'd call the camera tempermental and am already researching manual cameras, but for a point and click this thing is a beast. After a few hours I was able to get better acquainted with the focus issue and found a groove to it. The zoom is great and it's overall very user-friendly. No instruction manual since I bought refurbished, but Nikon does publish these for free as pdfs. My only other major pro/con is it takes 4x AA batteries. I got maybe 3 hours out of their life so it will burn through batteries but at least I'm in on a shoot I have easy backup. No idea how it does with the video yet. Overall, I would recommend this for beginners but know it will take some getting used to with the focus issue. The pictures and the prove are worth it though. ... show more

  • I absolutely love this camera
Color: Red
Wow, wow, wow. I absolutely love this camera. I purchased it refurbished, no worries it looks and operates like new. I am in real estate, and the first comment I get when I pull it out of the bag is how pretty it is. So much of what I do requires really nice pictures and this camera does not disappoint. I specifically chose this one because it helps with stabilizing the pictures so I don't have to put up with blurry pictures. It is easy to use, even tells you when you've left the lens cover in place. Okay, that may be something really basic to those used to working with high end cameras, but I am someone jumping from using a cell phone. Don't be concerned about purchasing refurbished, don't be concerned about the camera being too complicated. It's a great camera at a great price. ... show more

  • Great budget camera for point and click -- TERRIBLE FOCUS!
Color: Red
This is a great point and shoot camera if you're looking to achieve high color saturated crisp shots in natural light. You won't have to photo edit to make the pictures really pop. However there is a POP and Vivid filter you can use to make a dull looking gray sky look a little more blue and pretty. The optical zoom is what drew me to this camera. I wanted something I could take out to the desert and get close ups of the mountain ranges miles away in the distance. And it zooms VERY far. The last quarter of the zoom bar is actually digital zoom but it does a good job of cleaning up the final picture and not making it look like a pixelated cropped image. I really liked this camera at first, but I started to notice some really annoying and deal breaking issues. First and foremost, the focus is all over the place. I can see the picture start out crystal clear, I have not moved the camera in any way, but suddenly it all just blurs. To focus the camera, you hold the shutter button down halfway. Then I'd watch the picture come back into focus and then immediately blur again. The camera won't take a picture until it blurs the focus, even if I press the shutter button all the way down while the picture is momentarily in focus. INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING! I believe this is a defect in this model because obviously it CAN focus but the camera prevents itself from doing so. Made me want a manual focus camera so I never have to put up with this nonsense again. In low light, actually just inside with natural sunlight shining through the windows, this camera has a very hard time focusing if you're zoomed in even one click. It gets 3 stars because despite the zoom focus issues, it does take wonderful pictures (when you're outside), and one time I even snapped a couple great pictures of lightning strikes outside. But the focus issue is just a deal breaker. I will be selling this camera and buying something else. Note: The pictures I attached that I took with this camera are not in high quality because Amazon doesn't let me upload the 5+MB files, they have been JPG'd for easier uploading. It's just to show what the camera is capable of capturing. ... show more
