  • Nice camera at a nice price. Nice camera at a nice price.
Color: Black
I wanted a camera that took good pictures, without requiring a lot of fiddling with adjustments and without breaking the bank. This camera has filled the niche for me. The camera has several settings that are automatic , which cover different photo situations. The “Smart Scene” is your go to automatic option. It works well most all situations, whether normal or long distance. The “Macro” for up close on small objects works nice too. In the photos I attached, the flower was taken on Macro. This flower was about 3/4 of an inch wide. The lizard in the photo, was about 5-6 inches long and I took the picture from 20 feet away, with the camera set on Smart Scene. I was impressed that it took such a good picture of a small object, from so far away. The zoom is great. The camera isn’t too bulky and the weight is good. I carried it around my neck for three long days of checking out a zoo, an aquarium and a museum. Battery life was good too. I took a lot of pics and never changed batteries. On that note, it uses 4 AA batteries. I like this as opposed to a rechargeable battery, as you can throw extra batteries in your pocket and switch them out n the fly if the camera dies. Here are the cons: The auto focus can take several seconds to resolve itself. Not a deal breaker, but can be irritating. The flash will not auto deploy. You must manually extend it, if you think flash may be needed. I just left it up while inside. Other than that, the camera is great. It took a little practice and trial and error, but after about 45 min, I had it down. I can definitely recommend this camera. ... show more

  • Great pictures easy to use Great pictures easy to use
Color: Black
Great camera out of the box. If you receive an error message to turn off and then on remove the lens cap. The optical zoom works effortlessly. Without a tripod I was able to take steady shots from quite a distance in bright daylight. Perfect for nature photos. Bigger than a point and shoot but not overly so. Gone are the days of the camera bag with several lenses and focusing on your subject. The smartbridge is a bit slow but works, no cords to lose or carry. Used on a iphone se. All in all many features for the price. I would recommend this to s semi serious picture taker ready to advance from cell phone or small point and shoot pictures. If you want to take and really enlarge photos for wall art this is the way to go. ... show more

  • Good beginner camera
Color: Black
I bought this Nikon Coolpix B500 Digital Camera for my 15 year old granddaughter. She had expressed an interest in photography and been using an old digital point and shoot that we had given her several year earlier. She felt limited by the point and shoot's image quality and lack of features. Since opening this on Christmas 2022, she has been making some amazing photographs. She really has an eye for subject matter and composition. The camera lens is amazingly sharp, so her pictures easily stand up to enlargement many times over. The zoom is so good she has taken excellent pictures of the moon where the craters are clearly visible. She has even done some macro photography with this camera, so it's very versatile. One thing I don't like about it, and it's a personal preference, is that it does not allow for interchangeable lenses. Fortunately, as I said, the lens on it is amazingly sharp, so for most situations, it will work well. I just like having options. This camera also works with SnapBridge, a Nikon software program for it's cameras. The camera doesn't have all the bells and whistles of my D850, but it's only a fraction of the price, and for what you pay, you get an excellent beginner camera. ... show more

  • Nikon Coolpix B500 - Good camera, but learn the menus before you shoot.
Color: Black
I bought this camera so that I could take better long-distance photos with the higher-power optical zoom, and it works just fine for that purpose. I also wanted a camera that would work on AA batteries, since these batteries are plentiful and can be purchased almost anywhere. The one time that I did go out to shoot some photos with a different camera that used a rechargeable battery pack, I think that I was able to shoot perhaps 50 images before the battery gave out, so after that, I use AA batteries only, until something better comes along. With this camera, I was able to shoot 1014 images and videos with my first set of batteries, and being able to carry several spare sets of batteries gives one peace of mind while shooting photos. This camera has several discrete modes for different situations, such as portrait modes and night-photography modes. The night modes seem to require the use of the flash, which would not be useful at any distance beyond about 20 feet (6 meters) or so. For night photography, I prefer using one of the other modes, then adjusting the light exposure level to adjust the brightness of the image. I would advise new users to familiarize themselves with the various modes, and explore the menu options that are included with each mode. For example, the user can manually adjust the color saturation and the light exposure of the image, but finding this feature requires the user to navigate through the menus, so by all means, do some exploring and learning before going out to shoot some photos. The one issue that I have had with this camera is with the auto-focus when shooting video of moving subjects. In video mode, the auto-focus feature has 2 modes, one of which is a continuous mode that continuously adjusts the auto-focus while shooting video. I would recommend against using this mode, because the continuous auto-focus tends to lose its lock on the subject and causes the video image to lose focus entirely. I would have preferred to see some more manual shooting options, such as the ability to manually adjust the aperture, the shutter speed, and especially manual focus, but one can use the various settings and modes in this camera to compensate, at least most of the time. ... show more

  • Great camera for travel Great camera for travel
Color: Black
I bought this camera because my husband and I were taking a trip up to Sleeping Bear Dunes in Michigan and I wanted a camera that would produce better quality pictures than my cell phone and would also have a great zoom. After spending hours online reading reviews I decided on the this camera and I am SO glad I did. My top criteria were for a camera that would have high quality pictures, great zoom, and ease of use. The camera is easy to use, takes minimal set-up (which you can link to your phone and do all of the set up on the app on your phone) and it takes gorgeous pictures. I tested the camera out before we left, using different types of modes and playing with the zoom and on our trip we got some phenomenal pictures (it helps the subject is one of the most beautiful places in the US). I took about 200 pictures and the battery life still shows as full and only two pictures came out blurry (both were of deer that moved at the last second). The zoom is incredible as well. I zoomed pretty far with the picture of the sailboat and it turned out beautifully. ... show more

  • fantastic camera purchased used
Color: Red
first of all this was purchased from good stuff who stated the quality was good. The quality was in fact perfect! they stated it would come with the memory card and batteries only but they also included the camera strap and lens cover so i was pleasantly surprised i did not have to buy these seperately. The price was unbelievable for the condition of the camera. i will certainly buy more items from Good Stuff. they are extremely fair and reputable. this is a camera that is very easy to use and still delivers very good quality picture and i have in fact already enlarged and framed 2 of my pictures with no loss of sharpness or quality. Very pleased with my purchase! ... show more

  • I am half tempted to throw it away.
Color: Black
Piece of garbage. Absolute junk. Now, that being said, it takes great pictures. It has awesome features. I love that I can use my phone to work the camera. The software is a bit glitchy, it may take two times to get it to sync. Why do I hate it? I put the batteries it came with into it. I messed around with it for a good bit. I even took a few pictures. I then put it away after turning it off. I took it back out a couple months later, the batteries were really dead. What??? Fine, I put Energizer lithium batteries in it. You could run a Tesla off those things. It turned on. I said fine. I took the batteries out and put them in a bag with the camera. Last week I wanted to use it. I reinstalled the batteries. It said full batteries. I tried to take a movie and couldn't figure it out even after a few tries. I also couldn't make sure it was on the 1GB SD card. I deleted all of the pictures and it got more room. It has got to be on the internal memory since it says I can do 15 min of movie or 400 pictures. Anyway, I gave up and shut it off. I didn't need it for an hour. I found out not to put it in what looks like movie mode on the top wheel. Keep it in auto and just hit record. So, got it set up, turned it on, aimed and zoomed. Ready, set, record. Dead batteries!!! AHHH! I checked them. 1.9, 1.8, 1.8, 1.3. Sure, one is low. No clue how that happened. It should still turn on because the total voltage is 6.8v. Regular batteries, like the ones that came with it, maybe 6.4 if you are lucky. Normally 6.2 - 6.3 total. I have never used it for an actual purpose other than trying out features. ... show more

  • simple camera good images, silly video crop you cant see on the screen until you hit record
Color: Black
its a good camera , simple to operate (because theres not much to it) love the adjustable screen and ability to power from the wall, the big issues I have is there is no Video mode instead they have a seprate record button for video, this is an issue as the camera screen applies a crop to the image that you can not see until you hit record so if you set up your shot without recording you will likely crop out important parts of your video and need to reshoot, ... show more
