  • Swiss Army Knife of Cameras
Ill keep it short. The camera is the swiss army knife of digital cameras. I love the different settings although they are difficult for me to find quickly. Images are crisp, especially underwater. The movies are also very good but I had difficulty keeping the camera steady as I zoom out while in video mode. Great travel companion but cannot replace my Coolpix P520 for making artistic shots. I seem to only get snapshots with the AW130. Probably because Ive only used it for a few weeks. Easy to handle for the most part excluding previous remarks, light, fast on off. Real zoom quality for an internal lens. Opens up sea shore photos like never before. Cant wait for a clear night to try the long exposure settings. ... show more

  • Have LOVED Nikon cameras for many years
Have LOVED Nikon cameras for many years! This one failed after 7 months. Sent it back per the Nikon warranty and it was found to have corrosion on the circuit board. Had faithfully followed all instructions about rinsing after use in salt water and keeping the seal clean. (Had a Nikon Coolpix AW120 before this which lasted 4 years and only failed because my kid dropped it on concrete.) The corrosion must have come from water entering a leaking seal, although I never observed water inside the camera when I downloaded pictures or charged the battery. Beware that the warranty does not cover this situation so I would purchase additional protection if you decide to buy this camera. Very disappointed in the whole experience. It did take nice pictures and video when it was working! ... show more

  • Like any other camera
Used this camera several times now diving to 100' and no problem yet. Like any other camera, its operation takes a little getting use to, especially underwater where things are always more complicated to do. Don't know why people are having flooding issues. Door mechanizm and seal look pretty well designed. Also there is only 1 door unlike Canon D30 that has 2, doubling the chance of a flood. ... show more

  • Highly recommended
After scouting out waterproof cameras for an upcoming hiking trip to Utah, I took a gamble on the Coolpix AW130. It seemed that every waterproof camera in the consumer-grade market had at least a handful of negative reviews, but I've had good luck with Nikon and I liked the features of the AW130, particularly the wireless uploads and GPS. I "field tested" the AW130 this past week at the Wisconsin Dells and was very impressed with how this camera handled itself. It was often fully submerged and performed admirably in and out of water. I also shot a lot of POV videos on the water slides and was pleased with the video and sound quality. The image quality is what you might expect out of a camera phone or your basic point-and-shoot. Compared to my Nikon D5100, the image quality doesn't stack up. However, this camera doesn't advertise itself as being comparable to a DSLR, so I don't hold image quality against it. You get what you pay for and that's a sturdy point-and-shoot that can handle the elements. I look forward to bringing this on an upcoming kayak trip as well as the Utah hiking trip. ... show more

  • failed on me at work
I entered in the pictures for report, and the memory card was showing me pictures from a couple weeks before. NO it wasn't the memory card either, I bought a new one and it did the same thing. I had to buy $100 software to recover files or it would have cost me 3k for this job or I would have to travel 8 hours away to re-take the pictures. ... show more

  • Get a screen protector, Great camera
Dropped on a camping trip and still worked great! Great quality images (I've attached a few that I've taken with this camera). For the price, multi-functionality, and quality, there is no need to buy a camera more than $300. This is the camera that fits the bill for most folks needs (not everyone needs a DSLR). Only thing I would recommend is getting a screen protector for the LCD screen. Mine was scratched up just from being in my pocket. ... show more

  • This camera takes awesome pictures and video
This camera takes awesome pictures and video. I took it to Hawaii and went snorkeling with it every day. The pictures were outstanding. Very easy to use. I purchased a floating wrist strap as well.

I returned it after I found out that I no longer had the option to keep the flash on. There are situations that need a flash to be on that the Auto flash does not allow. I hope Nikon puts that feature back in. I still have my AW110 and was hoping to upgrade with the newer model, but will keep using it. ... show more
