Now, I have to say right away that these are not "real" nightvision goggles in the sense of taking ambient light and enhancing it significantly. Those are super expensive, and many people end up buying some and then using them a few times, having a very expensive toy sitting in your closet. These give you a chance to see if you enjoy night vision adventures. I use them all the time in our horse pasture to check on the horses without disturbing them, or to see what creatures are visiting our garden to nibble new shoots at night. Plus it's fun to sit in the woods and see what comes by. They have various settings, and the buttons can be a bit confusing at first. There is a button that backlights them all if you need to see them, but I just memorized the ones I use most. The night vision cycles through a setting that mildly enhances ambient light, making the dark just a little brighter. After that it shines out a beam of invisible light (infrared) that goes WAY out, lighting up everything. It's the same tech used in most trail cameras. By making the ir light visible, the goggles let you take in the whole environment in great clarity. Note some limitations with this type of system. First, if there is something close in front of you, like a tree branch, the ir light will light it up so brightly that you won't be able to see much of anything else. So you have to have a clear line of vision. Second, if there is any kind of precipitation or fog or even just very high humidity, the ir light will light up the water particles and make it so that you can't see anything except for a bright blur. The other thing that's a bit tricky, as I've already mentioned, is all the buttons. This is good in a way, however, because each of those buttons does something. You can make it work as a bright flashlight, you can take photos or video, and cycle through regular ir, brighter ir, and brightest ir. The other functions I've already mentioned. One gripe I have is that the wonderful case, which fits the goggles so nicely, doesn't really fit when you have the neck strap attached to the goggles. I can make it work, but I have to really arrange things just right. Other than that this is such a great way to get your feet wet in the world of nightvision adventuring!

I am very happy with these binoculars/night vision goggles. The quality is evident in the design. I love that the image is on a screen instead of in the eye piece. It makes it easier to see while wearing glasses. It is easy to transition from regular binoculars to night vision with just the touch of a button. I also love that I can snap a picture of what I am viewing. This is a great feature of these binoculars. The battery seems to last a good length of time between charges.

I got these for playing around with, versus a critical defense need. Its fun and peaceful just watching animals do their thing from the porch. I think that these are a decent value for sure, but they shouldn't be confused as a high end product. The power button is incredibly hard to push to actually activate. I almost returned it before just trying to push the heck out of it. The screen kind of has a pulsating flicker to it no matter what mode it's in. I recorded some video and watched it on my computer, and it has the little flicker. I see myself recording video on occasion just to show friends, not for making top notch videos. I didn't notice any stabilization tech happening, my video was just as wobbly as I was on a test shot. The range of the IR vision was impressive, far more than I expected. If you consider the price, this is a very nice value. Just don't expect you will be running around like Navy Seals with this strapped to your head. I recommend this as a fun toy, not as a tactical optical device.
