I've done quite a number of LEGO and quasi-LEGO kits for adults over the past few months, including other automobiles. Although I enjoy doing them all and always like the look of the finished product, this Nifeliz Retro Sports Car K500 exceeded my expectations. I found the instructions easy to follow. The gold-plated pieces give it a real "wow" factor. The design is very pleasing. Best of all, the finished product is comparatively sturdy. So many auto models by LEGO and other companies are extremely frail--handle them too tightly or pick them up too quickly and pieces start coming off. The Nifeliz Retro Sports Car K500 is much sturdier than that. Don't get me wrong, you can't give it to a three-year-old to race around on the floor! But for a model to display on the shelf and to show people without fear that it's going to crumble in your hands--it's very, very nice! Steering wheel actually turns the front wheels; open hood to see engine; doors and trunk open; rumble seat opens. Fun! ... show more

My first Nifeliz product, my expectations were exceeded, the quality of the pieces and the design are on par with Lego for seemingly a third or less of the price. Instructions were pretty clear, interestingly the final step of putting on the wheels with the golden hubcaps and studs was omitted but is certainly hard to forget to do. The bags are numbered but the numbers can be hard to see, and some steps had multiple bags. The set comes with foldable boxes you can put together to hold pieces which is a nice touch. This was my initial purchase of a Nifeliz kit. Assembly began unfavorably when I realized the manual was missing the first and last four pages. However customer service promptly provided me with a PDF version of the manual. While not as crystal clear as a Lego manual it proved adequate. I also discovered that one of the provided rubber tires was badly distorted. Again, customer service came through with a replacement. ... show more

This was a beautiful and fun model to build! The color scheme is very eye-catching and the car is an elegant re-creation of the Mercedes-Benz 500k Touring Car. This was my first time trying a non-Lego alternative, and I was a little bit worried. I had some doubts on the piece quality, model quality, and piece quantity, but I nonetheless had some confidence that it would all be OK. Piece Quality: pretty good, all things considered. It’s not as “crisp” as Lego, but the clutch power is good, and none of the parts were broken or deformed. One thing to note: all the pictures on the box, instructions, and other advertising show CHROME GOLD pieces. However, the pieces I received were PEARL GOLD. While this did not impact the overall look or quality of the model (it actually looks very refined and beautiful with the Pearl Gold), I just think people should know that they may get Pearl Gold instead of Chrome. Mercifully, there were no missing pieces in my kit, which was a huge relief. Building Experience: Contrary to what I’ve heard, the building instructions were not very challenging, and very easy to follow. If you pay attention and make sure to complete each step correctly and fully, things should go rather smoothly. You should be able to complete it in a good hour and a half if you’re experienced with building Lego or similar sets. One thing to note, the instructions do not actually tell you to put on the wheels and rims. However, this is a very obvious step and very easy to do, so I’d say it’s a non-issue (saves paper!) Model Quality: This model is surprisingly sturdy. While it does have a few bits that may fall off if treated roughly, it can still take a good vrooming around the table, and can be handled without any major worries. The steering is a bit tight (friction-wise) due to the tolerances, but this isn’t really a problem to be worried about. There are no stickers on this model, which means that the front “K500” license plate is actually a printed piece! Fancy, fancy, Nifeliz. Overall Impressions: Very good model! I will be buying models from this company again, provided they have good reviews and are light on stickers (stickers that go across multiple pieces is a big no-no, though) Happy building, prospective buyer! ... show more
