The User Guide is clear and descriptive. Very detailed and rewarding assembly. I found that it was difficult to connect the Engine assembly with the Base assembly (Pg 134). It was very difficult to connect assembly # 341 (Pg.132) with the upper and lower sections. I finally removed 2 of the above assemblies to make to connection. Someone tied a Knot in two of the Long (24) conduits, Pg. 230/231. I luckily had 2 spare long conduits that I used. However, I would recommend building this Nifeliz engine. They have a creative style.

Nifeliz L6 Engine Building Set I build a LOT of these advanced kits, from many brands. Nifeliz continues to be my favorite. They are consistently well designed, and well packaged. The instructions always have color photos and a story of the design at the front. Consistently classy. This is a wonderful engine set. It's a BIG kit, and not meant for children. Serious teens or adults. The kit has several stand-out design features. * The valve retraction is done with silicone bands. This is a unique mechanism. I've done several engine kits from other brands that use small springs; I haven't seen silicone bands before. * There is a worm-gear driven belt tensioning mechanism to tension the main drive belt. I haven't seen any other kit with an adjustable belt tensioner. * The valve cover opens, so you can see the valves in action. * The kit has a manual crank to turn the engine, with an optional capability for a motor (not included). I really like this. I've done several other kits that come with a motor, and I'd rather not mess with batteries. And motors tend to spin these kits too fast, where a chain can break if it catches a bit. 5 star – giftable 5 star – instructions 4 star – parts and fitment 4 star – stickers 4 star – finished build As with all Nefeliz kits I've reviewed, this kit is super giftable. It comes in an impressive thick padded box. The box is black, with a classy product image. Upon opening, the instructions are placed carefully on top of the bagged parts. You'll find foldable trays and and even a bookmark. The instructions are very clear. It's a THICK book, printed on heavy paper. There's about 10 pages of color photos with the design story at the front. In many steps, several angles are shown, so that it's clear how parts are to be joined. Be prepared though - it's a big 280 page book! Parts are great quality and fully compatible with other brands. I'm going to ding the parts a bit though because two of the corrugated hoses were knotted (for no apparent reason) distorting them. See photo. Stickers - there are only 2. They go on top of the engine cover. These span multiple parts - which is a negative for me. The finished build looks nice. I like how the cylinders are canted, and not strictly vertical. I wasn't a fan of the cover, which just kind-of sits on top - took me a while to be sure I had it "right", but yes, it just sits there. I usually don't have many negatives about Nifeliz, but there are a few nits with this kit: * The knotted hoses! * There are 2 chains, front and rear. The rear chain tends to derail. * For engine realism, I would expect the overhead cam to activate the valves in sync with the cylinders. They aren't quite right (though only a nerd would notice). On the last cylinder, all of the valves open at the same time. * And though the parts are perfectly organized by step, I'd rather have single large bags for the common pins. This is easier than mixing a few pins in a bag for each step. * The chrome indicator (a sparkle on the part) is difficult to see in the instructions Regardless, the kit is recommended. A big kit and a great value. Enjoy.

Great birthday gift

I really enjoyed putting this engine together. It took a while for me to build, as it is almost 3,000 pieces, but it was well worth the effort, and it was very satisfying finishing the assembly, turning the crank, and watching the motor run. I really recommend this engine if you like building models. Pros: 1. Satisfying build experience 2. Clear, accurate, detailed instruction book 3. Parts bags are clearly marked with reference to the corresponding step in the instruction manual and several sorting trays are included in the kit 4. When turning the crank - All the gears and drive components move together it really is an impressive display when the engine components are all moving together 5. Tight tolerances: the snap together pies stay in place Notes: 1. This is not the first Nifeliz model I have built - I have had good luck with the brand and am happy with the quality of their models 2. The Instruction not the place to add an electric motor I can see where it would be easily added, but there is no recommendation on where to buy an auxiliary motor Photos: 1. Model Engine Box 2.
