I took this out of the box, plugged it in, and my cat was sitting on it within minutes. She loves it. She hardly sleeps with me anymore because she prefers her heated pad. The instructions say to put it on a firm surface. Well, I put it on my sofa and that seems fine. My cat likes this more than anything I’ve ever bought her. She looks utterly content when she lays on it. I leave it on most of the time because she can’t get enough of it. I checked with the vet and there’s no downside. If the cat gets too warm, she moves off it. Later on she gets back on. This thing is great and I highly recommend it. Heats quickly, good size for 1 average size adult cat.Have adjustable temperature unit, my outdoor female prefers low #2settings 60 degree nights #3 for 50's and #4 for 40-50 degree, in Central Florida so higher settings will probably not be needed, the pad is on a bench in a screen room alcove with a fur throw doughnut rolled around the perimeter of the pad wrapped in a layer of fleece throw, cats love their comfort and the cat loves the warmth on chilly nights , easy to use and clean , TOUGH power cord for peace of mind , does a good job .Just purchased so can't comment on long term use but it is well made, hopefully thermostat unit is too. I purchased two, one for the couch, one for the bed. My cat Mae loves them, she now sleeps through the night, instead of trying to burrow under the covers for warmth. She’s 18 years old and has joint pain, so this heating pad is a great help for relieving some of that discomfort. My 16 year old cat is dealing with some health issues that cause his body to struggle regulating his temperature. His ears get cold and he sometimes shakes. We built him a catio so he could go outside safely and lay in the sun, but now that winter is coming, I've been searching for other options. I ordered this mat and he is absolutely in love. It heats up quickly and can be left on indefinitely or timed as desired. Recommend using the default setting at 3 because it is very warm but not too hot. I do watch him and if he lays his head on it, I'll adjust it to 2, because technically I know you're not supposed to let a cat lay on a heating mat for more than an hour, and I worry about the heat being so close to his brain. However, he's older and I want him to be comfortable, so I do leave it running all day and turn it off at night (we have a different set up to keep him warm at night) He lays on it most of the day, seems very comfortable and happy, and we haven't had any issues. It seems to be built very well and is simple to use, but I wouldn't leave it unattended if you aren't home, just out of caution. Highly recommend. ... show more

I love the fact that I don't have to worry about my cat chewing through the cable. I feel that it's safe to leave on all the time as I keep my house pretty cool in the winter. My doggy loves it! Has moved from insisting on sleeping under the blankets to cuddling up in his heated kennel. I like that the outer layer can be removed for cleaning, and the inner part can be wiped down. The cord is wrapped in coil in case you have a pet that chews.

I wish this pad would work with a Meross wi-fi switch.The pad has to be manually switched off and on.The one i replaced this one with could be turned off and on with Google Home and with the phone app.
