Bought this as a replacement for a floor lamp. Our cats knocked the lamp over and shattered the original bulb. This has held up but it is not as bright. I do like the funky look and love the function.

We moved into a place that has 1980s style ceiling fans....you know with the tulip shaped bulb covers or whatever. Hideous. We considered replacing the whole fixture but too expensive! What a hassle! Then we hit in the idea of trying out decorative bulbs-genius! Simple to install and a decor game changer! Granted, it was still a little pricey to outfit all the room's matching ceiling fixtures at $22 a pop, but way better than the hassle and expense of replacing all of that, and it was something we could do ourselves! This is a very unique lightbulb. It appears that thin LED strips are embedded into a hard-plastic mock lightbulb. There is no glass, because the LED lights do not get hot enough to require it. The metal cage construction protects the plastic part well during shipping, and it also creates a nice aesthetic cast of shadows across the room. It isn't super bright, so you would need several to light a room. But I personally like the muted lighting it offers; the lamp that houses this bulb is one of my favorites to use when I'm winding down for the evening and want to relax. ... show more
