I bought myself one of these, along with my son. Before these, we had CRKD Nitro Decks. While mine still works, his would no longer connect to his Switch. I found these Gripcons for a good price, so I ordered a black one for me, and a blue one for my son. We both really like them, my son especially. Ergonomically speaking, this is a much for comfortable controller to hold because it has a similar shape to the Pro controller, or an Xbox style controller, rather than attempting to keep the Joy Con shape. The buttons have more resistance to them that I was used to, but once I got used to it, I stopped noticing. These have Hall Effect Sticks, and they come with joystick extenders that go over the standard stick toppers. I like the slots to hold a couple game cards, and I like that the charging port is on top of the handheld, rather than underneath. One of the coolest things though, is the HDMI port. Instead of removing the Switch from the Gripcon, just plug your HDMI cable into the Gripcon, and now your displaying on a TV or monitor. This saves me space on my desk, because I could remove my dock and just use this instead. It even has an extra USB port for either a second player or if you want to use a different controller. My son really likes the kickstand on the back. It is probably the best kickstand I have seen for the Switch. It's wide and sturdy, and holds the Switch up well. I would definitely recommend the NexiGo Gripcon!

I don't write product reviews often, but I felt I should take the time with this item. With less than a year (supposedly) until we have a "Switch 2", I decided to freshen up my Switch as I try to knock out any remaining games I want finish before the next console. I wanted a full set of features with this new handheld. My main criteria: comfort/ergonomics, gyro, vibration, back paddles. First I'll talk about two other popular options I tried and finish with my Nexigo gripcon experience in the last few paragraphs. I've used the Holi split pad pro quite a bit, and while it does feel REALLY great in hand it's missing gyro and vibration. Might not matter to some, but in my new handheld I wanted something with the full suite of features. The Nitro Deck has been getting a lot of attention lately, and I tried that as well. The build quality is great, and while is has gyro, vibration, back paddles... honestly the ergonomics did not appeal to me. It feels closer to a Steam Deck in hand and in appearance, but not nearly as comfortable. And the right thumbstick in relation to the ABXY buttons was also a problem many others have reported. You could probably get used to it, but it was very awkward for me. Another issue was the lack of adjustable vibration - could only be set to on/off and to me it was too distracting when on. Less is more when it comes to rumble in my opinion... playing Mario Wonder the thing was buzzing constantly. Honestly I think the Nitro Deck looks good, and certainly has some great marketing, but it just wasn't enjoyable in hand to me. Which finally brings me to the product at hand, this Nexigo Hall effect gripcon. This thing is the culmination of all their previous models, has every feature you could want - I won't list them all here as you can read the product description, but this is one of the few decks out there that does "everything" and wraps it up in a package with superb build quality (really, I'd compare it to the Nintendo pro controller) and looks great as well. The Gripcon fits my average sized male hands very comfortably - FAR more so than the Nitro Deck, the ergonomics are no comparison. Thumbsticks feel fantastic and are in perfect position in relation to the d-pad and ABXY buttons. Vibration is adjustable to several different intensities, a rare feature but was key to me. The lightest setting is perfect for me - subtle, not overbearing, but it's there. Also, this thing is it's own dock, which is a really cool feature I wasn't even looking for. Your Switch can live in the Nexigo, because all you need to do for docked mode is pop your USB-C and HDMI cable into it and you're good to go. Yank em out when you want to go portable again. So easy - not to mention it upscales the video output to 4K which is something the branded Switch Dock does NOT do. It even has a USB-A slot so you can hook up, for example, a headphone dongle. Add in a few other bells & whistles like cartridge storage slots, turbo, and a kickstand because why not? If I had one criticism, it's that the ABXY buttons are a *little* bit "clicky" for my taste, but honestly after a couple minutes of play I don't even notice. After trying out multiple grips/attachments, reading many reviews, and sifting though plenty of comparable products, in my opinion this Gripcon is the pinnacle of Switch handheld (and docked) play. I would recommend this to anyone who owns a Switch.

Overall, this is a great handheld. I initially was troubled by the reduction in battery life, but it isn't as extreme as I first thought (it does reduce it more quickly, but not twice as fast) and the vibration is a nice feature to have, although it is a bit loud and doesn't have the "HD" feel of modern vibration motors. More like the old school Dual Shock vibration rotary offset weights (and, since it's kind of see through, you can see them in there and that's what the look like too). It's very comfortable to me, with hands bigger than average but not gigantic. The sticks, D-Pad and triggers feel good. The buttons are a bit stiff at first but get a bit more comfortable as you spend time with it. I am extremely pleased with the accuracy and feel of the joysticks. That was my biggest hope and it nails things there. I don't use the turbo or additional button features really ever, myself, but they're there if you want them. I do use the two slots on the back for additional Switch carts - handy, I wish it had 7, haha - and the included HDMI out and USB C in works extremely well as a portable "dock." Very nice to be able to do that without having to worry about setting up a regular dock when, say, visiting somewhere you have access to the TV. I will say, I thought that mine had an issue initially and received a replacement... that did not work right. One of its buttons was stuck sending signal at all times no matter what. So that was a bit concerning. But the one I have, and kept, did not in fact have a problem it turns out, and it has worked well for the two months or so that I have been using it. I will update my review if there are unexpected issues later, but I'm hoping it continues to perform well for me and make me feel satisfied in the purchase. Edit 06-17-2025: Still going strong a year and three months after purchase. The joysticks remain excellent to use, and the HDMI out is convenient for connecting to a TV without a dock. I am now looking forward to when Nexigo figures out how to make something like this for Switch 2, I'll definitely try it.

I’m coming from an older NexiGo model that was made for both the original Switch and the OLED, (I own the original model.) it included rails to mount on the sides of the switch to make the original Switch fit that unit. I’m using those rails today in this new purple NexiGo controller. This older model was used for a year and a half, 8 hours a day, then one day the buttons became extremely loose, so much play, it was hard to use it. My husband tore it down and couldn’t see a visible problem causing this, so I assume the silicone switch just wore out, even though visually it looked fine. So enter this new NexiGo purple unit. It plugged right in. Worked perfect from the first click. Having used several of these units I know about the settings in the actual Switch unit to make the switch, “see” the grip controller. So we were off and playing in seconds! See instructions and READ them if your unit doesn’t work!! The first thing I noticed right off the top is the use of haptic vibration over the motor vibration used in my older model. This, in my opinion was a huge mistake. I have exclusively played Animal Crossing. The haptic buzz in this unit is not as strong as my phone! Yes, they adjust Light, Medium & Strong. But it matters not which you choose, because they are the same flat buzz, just stronger, no immersive feeling game play. This is where I notice the difference. When catching a fish in game, I got so I pretty much knew what fish it was, by the vibrations from the unit. They were very clearly noticeable for all the over 60 plus variety of fish in the game. The vibration was wonderful, feeling quite immersed. Now with this purple unit that is gone. There is very little discernible difference in the vibration between a huge White Shark and a small Goldfish. Just a flat vibration, not real immersive game kicking fun. Very disappointing. Another disappointment over the older model is no interchangeable Joy sticks. Bummer! They look good and do come with other covers, which I choose not to use. They feel great. The third immediate difference is the size between the two units, I am a yes, 71 year old grandma with large hands. This unit is much smaller in the hands than the old NexiGo, and I find my thumbs cramping. The older unit doesn’t look larger, the difference is in the hand holds themselves, (see photos) they are much deeper in depth. This unit seems made for a bigger kid rather than an adult. See pictures! I would have considered buying the same older unit, but the sloppy buttons are NOT a distant memory. These issues are almost deal breakers for me. I will never use the mappable buttons. EVER. They are a nice touch if you are into that kind of thing, up I find nothing wrong with the existing set up. Granted I don’t play a lot of other games. This split up D pad is not my favorite layout, as I prefer the solid one piece D pad, but the transition to the split arrangement has not been an issue. I just don’t like that configuration. There seems to be a lot of “travel” in the buttons, before a response in game. Okay, the good? I love the top C plug for charging. Beautiful addition to this new unit. The color is awesome. The stand has a padded back, and seems nice and sturdy, but another touch I will never use. The BAXY buttons are clicky and nice. The unit itself has a nice soft material to protect the back of your Switch unit. Two game card slots on the back are a nice touch. It has an HDMI port, and a USB 3.0 port. Top charging C port Is ahuge plus, and the one thing that will make me keep this unit. The unit itself is lighter than the old version, it’s noticeable. However it is a much smaller unit. And the old version has the heavier motor driven vibration effect, adding to the weight. The thumb cramping may be a deal breaker too. We will see, over the next week or so. This size seems only a step up from stock grips. Except for the ergonomics, which do make all the difference in the world. The build on this unit is nice. Sturdy, well made. For now I will keep this newer unit. Basically I NEED it, but will continue to look at others. I was looking for a basic controller without all the bells and whistles that I will never use. I will continue to look further. I just wish this weren’t so small! Bottom line is four stars for a nice build with all the bells and whistles you could want. I will be back for an update. Since I have only used this a few hours. Initial impressions. I’ve now used this for several days, and the haptics and size may earn it a free ride back to the Zon.

I was looking for a switch controller with Hall joystick because, as all switch fans know, stick drift really socks. I just had two back to back controllers mess up. I was looking at buying one of the new CRKD Nitro Deck bc they have some great colors and I've read positive reviews. Well I stumbled on Nexigo as well as Retroflag and a few others. This model Nexigo I believe is the newest model ,and only controller of its type to offer HDMI out which doubles this controller as a Switch dock! I was sold, hall effect drift proof sticks, larger size comfortable controller, push a button on the back and change it to TV mode and use it as a table top console. The top had a USB c port, usb a , and am hdmi . So you can connect a wired controller up to this as well , or you can use this as a controller if your switch isn't inside of it. A little about the feel and button feel. I have owned and used nearly every brand ,main brand, controller and loads of 3rd party from. 8bitdo ,Hori,power a, steel series, zen pro, scuf, etc. Some better than others. So I was expecting some compromise since this has so many features maybe lacking in certain areas. I was wrong. The ABXY feel great, larger than joycon with good firm push and the D pad is really awesome. I know it's a broken t not a solid cross but it is one of the best I've used. No problems with diagonals at all. Rear triggers are great L and R are a little too clicky for my taste but LR and ZR make up for it with the perfect amount of resistance. The joysticks are in my opinion, perfect. They are smaller and not very high ,but it is perfect for my hand size. Small. It is black rubber with cross hatch on top and ridges around the edge. Love using them in TOTK and Enter the Gungeon. Overall this is a great device that I will recommend to anyone. If you don't like the small cramped size of your stock Joycons and want something that feels great in hand, won't drift, can double as a dock , and comes in three cool transparent designs, buy it.

This grip has more than I need. I do not need the cart storage nor do I need the dock. I am purely handheld and digital. With that said, it was worth paying extra for those as this is the best grip on the market. First, the joysticks are nice. They give some resistance and are accurate to the touch. The buttons are very little to no play and all give nice feed back. Everything has minimal travel which I prefer. The Dpad has the most play, but not too bad. It is a good Dpad, but not the best for my preference. I prefer a tight Dpad with no wiggle. I don't use the back buttons, but they are the worst buttons on the pad. The have almost no travel and are hard to push in because of the short travel. They give good feedback though, so you know when you click which is good. The Switch OLED fits perfectly. The plastic rails are robust and will not mar your console. The back is felt and will also not damage your console. Just make sure the felt is free of debris before placing your console. The ergo is out standing here. The Dpad and right joy stick are placed inward giving a comfortable position when using them. Build quality: Very nice. Good plastics and good molding. The unit is fairly hefty and all the seams are well done. This is a quality unit. The Dock works like it should. It is a bit slower to transfer image to external screen, but only by a few seconds. Once transferred, it is exactly the same as the OEM. Summary This is the best controller grip out there. I have 5 with built in controllers. None come close to this in overall quality and usability. I wish it came with blank carts to fill the cart storage and keep dust out. I will never have carts.

Outright horrible, bought two and they both stopped working if it even started working. Seen some good reviews but for some reason these things are just infuriating and the fact that it’s still being sold is despicable. First obstacle is making sure it can even connect, second is hoping it stays connected, and third is somehow being lucky enough to not get get stick drift. That’s right, this product which by PRINCIPLE shouldn’t have stick drift somehow got stick drift. The manufacturer is downright LYING about this product at this point. Edit from 1 star to 3 stars: After some time the company was nice enough to reach out to me to give their product another shot. While I still can’t wrap my head around what could have gone wrong with the previous tries, things did go a lot better this time around. The gripcon was able to connect to my switch and the joysticks don’t seem to have any problems. I will say that I still disconnect occasionally but it is at a rate that is a lot less than before. I must warn that I think the problem could be beyond the product, the usb-c port could have some problems with it and the firmware wasn’t up to date. Updating isn’t really an option for me though so to be fair there will probably be a lot less problems as long as you make sure that you’re on current firmware and have a better usb-c port. As it is now I have to plug in the switch at a bit of an angle to get it to work but as long as it stays there it works pretty consistently.

This Gripcon is great! I was really needing something comfortable to play my switch on when it’s not plugged into my tv and this fit the bill perfectly. It’s made really well but not clunky. It’s mostly comfortable but if you have larger hands this may not be for you, I have average sized hands and I find my pinky and ring finger can barley grip the lower part of the Gripcon. I have play played in docked mode and handheld while docked it has only disconnected once in over 12 hours of play. In handheld mode I’m surprised to say i was able to play for 5-6 hours before charging and playing while charging didn’t seem to slow down the charge. The charging ports are snug and saved my bacon when I almost dropped my switch the cords stayed plugged in. I think considering how hard it is to find something like this that works as advertised is amazing and the fact that it’s less the $50 is also amazing. Heck it’s not perfect but for the price it’s darn close.
