  • Nexigo VS Hori VS Binbok VS Satisfye VS Nyxi VS Grip case VS 8bitdo VS Pro Controller
Color: Cosmic Nebula Style: Hall Stick
So I've legit tried 7 different variations of controllers and these by far have been the best so far. Regretting how much of a headache I been through and how much money I wasted by not trying these sooner. The Hori Split pad was too bulky and lacked features I cared about. The Binbok was cheaply made and had buttons break, replacements sent to me by the company and those also break. Eventually the Binbok wouldn't be able to snap into my console anymore. The Satisfye grips I had issues with how 'squishy' it felt. I also didn't feel like it felt good to still be using these joycons. Nyxi Wizard was bulky, clunky, and sorta bent on the rails of my switch. It was way too heavy too that I never really enjoyed using them unless I used them as a pro controller alternative but even then I had to get another device to charge it. A standard grip case with the joycons worked alright for traveling but still was difficult to hold and I'd still cramp up when using. I would avoid playing with my switch undocked if I had to use to grip case. The 8bitdo was really reliant on firmware and it bricked trying to update it that I had to return it. Finally I got these Nexigo and, oh my gosh, legit feel like oh most everything is perfect. Only issue I had was the thumbsticks don't pop off and I kinda wanted the option to adjust them. But honestly the default ones on them still feel so good that i think i can easily just overlook that. It feels really sturdy too and doesn't have that squishy effect or that bending that can happen when using joycon alternatives that rely on the rails. It's also extremely responsive and feels amazing to grip in the hand. Havnt had a cramp yet and out of all the controllers, other then the switch pro controller, the haptic feedback and gyro aiming feels sooooo good. These seriously are never coming off when the controller is undocked. This paired with a pro controller when it's docked. is really all you need for your switch. Seriously I've tried so many products and I've finally found the perfect one. Again totally banging my head against a wall for not getting these sooner. All the features just work so smoothly. I like the seperate light button, the single turbo button, the unobtrusive extra back buttons, the feel of them just feel super quality. Ugh. Totally love these. ... show more

  • Best way to play in handheld
Color: Cosmic Nebula Style: Hall Stick
As the title says this is the best way to play in handheld and it works with both OLED model and OG Switch(you may have to wiggle this one into position as its a tad smaller in physical size…. My only complaint is the LEDs not a huge fan of them as they do eat up battery life, but you can do what i do and turn em off……back buttons are great and easily programmable on the go change them in mid game if need be or turn em off, also love the rapid fire feature for games that require you to mash buttons like crazy….also like on the fly vibration adjustments….since purchase i have used it for over 300 hours and no drift at all as it says, and it just so comfortable its become my main way to play my switch…. ... show more

  • Compared with ECHZOVE, Hori, and NexiGo's dock version.
Color: Cosmic Nebula Style: Hall Stick
TL-DR; I kept it. I tested four controllers each with platformers, isometrics, FPS's, RPG's, and racing games. Any games needing motion controls were avoided, with one brief exception. Sticks were recalibrated for each controller. Can't comment on long term build quality for any of them, but across the board they were all lightweight and solid feeling devices. Things noted but are not factors in my decision: - Motion controls (prefer disabled/none) - RGB anything, ever - Dock features (neat trick, but wouldn't use it) - Kickstands - Macros and turbo buttons. Didn't think turbo buttons were cool in 1990, opinion hasn't changed. I have a V1 switch. My hand size is average-large adult. Large enough that Gamecube controllers feel cramped, and the original Xbox controller was great. My notes follow below: :: NexiGo Hall Effect Gripcon (purple galaxy) Good: - Sticks are fantastic. Surprisingly linear curve, and I wish my other controllers had their edge texturing. Thumbs will never slip off these. - ABXY membrane pressure is close to a DualSense (the GOAT), though the buttons are a little taller. - DPAD is clicky like a joycon, with no play and good pressure. Wish they'd pick a lane and stay in it though; all membrane or all clicky. - General comfort is pretty good, but it doesn't fill the hand quite like the ECHZOVE. Not my top pick, but more than good enough. Fingers are supported and the wrist angle is good. - Macro/turbo/RGB all tested fine and are simple to use. Bad: - Rumble is pretty lame. 100% strength isn't detailed or deep, just loud, cheap, and obnoxious. Playing on 20-40% strength is good though, and is where I'll leave it set. - Motion controls: Tilt for up-down: Fine. Turn like a steering wheel for left-right: Dumb. - I wish it aligned the switch better on insertion and stabilized the sides more, but it still feels solid once together. Probably fits an OLED more snugly. - Doesn't have the clearance on the back to allow the gamecard slot to open fully. :: NexiGo Hall Effect Dock Gripcon Good: - Favorite ZL/ZR triggers by far. Not too much range with a very nice non-clicky break. - Tightest quietest rumble (best) - Dock features are neat, didn't test them, assuming they work as advertised. - Top located charging port is really nice. Don't need to find the right-angle USB cable to rest it on my chest when laying down. - Split cross membrane DPAD feels similar to DualShock 4 (also I prefer split cross, so bonus). I wish ABXY felt the same. My unit's DPAD has a tracking error: down also inputs right. (Not a con, I'd just RMA it if I was going to stick with this model.) - Grip comfort is a toss up with the non-dock purple Gripcon. The shape and size feel nice, but I think I prefer the slightly larger size of the non-dock model. - Guide rails & solid lock up when inserting switch. No hunting for the USB port, it's very nice. - No clearance issue in back with the gamecard slot. Meh: - Stick inputs aren't as smoothly progressive as the purple galaxy Gripcon, likely different sensors. Still better than ECHZOVE. Hat size feels fine with the included caps installed. Lacks the sweet texturing of the purple galaxy's sticks. If I hadn't compared them, I'd be content with them. Bad: - ABXY buttons way, way too firm, and not something I'd learn to live with. - Ergonomically worse than the purple Gripcon. Its shape + wrist angle makes the right stick interfere with rolling the B & Y buttons pretty badly. Another deal breaker. - Macros are a bit more fiddly to set up :: ECHZOVE controller Good: - Easily the most comfortable in the hands, of the four units I tested. Its deep belly fills all four fingers and provides a very solid grip. - The buttons and DPAD aren't anything special, but they're fine. A little noisy, but they didn't annoy me. Bad: - The ZL/ZR triggers have analog range, but aren't analog. Annoying, especially while racing. - The sticks have a pretty nonlinear progression throughout their range, it's difficult to sweep smoothly. Also, the right stick ergonomics are oddly cramped, despite how large and comfortable the grip is. Basically: lousy for FPS but fine for others. - All the replaceable stick caps are meh, and they come off too easily. - The rumble is way over the top and rattles every button. Pretty silly. :: Hori Split Pad Pro's (officially licensed) Good: - Buttons and sticks are nice and smooth. Bad: - Least favorite of all. Ergonomically all wrong for me. Too thin, oddly angled, no belly, leaving ring & pinky unsupported. - Switch feels weird and awkward to hold. - Too expensive for the features they lack: rumble, motion/gyro, bluetooth, macros, turbo, rgb, etc. - I don't like them, for any game type. :: Conclusion In the end, I kept NexiGo's Hall Effect Gripcon (non-dock, purple galaxy) and sent the rest back. I was going to try the CRKD Nitro Deck and a few others that mostly seem to be NexiGo clones (binbok, etc), but I think it'd just be more of the same and I'm feeling pretty done with this project. If the dock Gripcon was a little meatier, they fixed the buttons and the right stick/ABXY interference, AND used the purple Gripcon's sticks, I'd probably have gone with the dock model. Made me wonder whether I could make a Frankenstein Gripcon that has the best of both donors. Hmm... Anyway, don't try this at home, I'm what you'd call a professional, and thank you for reading the Long Winded Switch Controller review. ... show more

  • I love it!! Makes the Switch so much more enjoyable!
Color: Cosmic Nebula Style: Hall Stick
I’m really enjoying the Nexigo Switch Controller. I highly recommend it if you want to play button smashing games like Mortal Combat 11 on the switch. The LED lights really make it a more pleasant experience. I would go months between using the switch because I found it to be rather boring, but now with this controller, it’s added a fully unlocked dimension to the console, that just makes me want to play it nonstop. I would buy another one if this one breaks, but hopefully it lasts. It’s good quality, but it’s not like the Steam Deck or Microsoft Handheld Quality, but it’s not far from it. It makes the Switch feel like a Steam Deck. This thing is so well thought out too. It even has little flat nubs on the bottom that are perfectly balanced and the switch stands on its own. I couldn’t be more impressed by the innovation of it, The engineering is impressive. ... show more
