I never managed to score the NES Classic since I wasn't willing to shell out several times its MSRP to a scalper, but I did manage to score one of these. Then I dug my Wii out of the box it had been sitting in for about six years and drowned my sorrow by getting the 8-bit games I wanted from the Virtual Console. Not as cool as having a tiny, adorable NES, but a nearly indistinguishable experience for a lot less money. The controller is an actual Nintendo product (seems like a lot of reviews here are from people who ended up with third party trash, so I want to specify that I am reviewing the genuine article) and feels exactly like the ones I remember from my childhood. The short cable is not an issue for me since I connect to a Wiimote rather than a console, and even then there is no noticeable lag between pushing a button and seeing the resulting action on the screen. I was so pleased with this purchase that I went on eBay and hunted down a Japanese edition Super Famicom controller made for the Wii (never released in the U.S. for some reason), then went back to the Virtual Console and repeated the process in 16-bit form. A must hav if youve brought the mini version which Ive done and here I am now. No complaints whts so ever better to hav the real nintendo version than anything else - according to comments online.

If you got the newer Mini NES, you need this controller so you can play the 2-Player games!!! **Disclaimer: The cord on this controller and the one that comes with the mini NES, are both only 4ft long. So if you don’t intend to sit up against the TV, I recommend getting the 10ft extension cords for the controllers!** ... show more

    • Solid system with a few rough spots
I got the NES Classic for Christmas this year. I was pretty excited, since I loved playing on the NES as a kid. The selection of games is very good. Super Mario Bros 3 is still a blast and so is Super C. Double Dragon, Super Mario Bros 1-2 and Castlevania are good as well. I think the price point is reasonable with the number of games included. Still, I could've done with less arcade ports and more games that were specifically made for the NES. The included controller didn't work properly but I was able to get a good replacement at a decent price. The cord is too short but extensions are available for about $10. ... show more

    • Work great but need longer cord
These work great. Not too much input lag either. But the cord plugs are only like 18 inches so you got to sit really close to the tv to play. Makes it tough it you have a wall mounted tv.

    • It's authentic Nintendo but the cord is too short
I'm torn on how to review this controller. It is the same size as the original NES controller and it has very accurate input response. It feels very durable and is comfortable in my hands. I have two gripes. The obvious complaint is the ridiculously short cable. What were you thinking, Nintendo? Buying an extension cable is a must. My other beef is the price. I spent close to $30 for an extra controller but I guess that's the price one must pay to play with a buddy. ... show more

    • Worth the price.
The cheap wireless knock offs are no good. The lag makes the games hard to play. We have a modded classic mini NES we play a lot. Really the only good controllers made for it are the official Nintendo brand. The cords are way to short so do yourself a favor and get the cord extensions.
