Now when I first put the batteries in, it did nothing. Looked to see how it links. A lot of people were saying it just plug n play (put the batteries in and turn it on), but that wasn't working. So, decided to deal with returning it when I'm off from work. Left the remote near the TV for a couple of days and went about my business. Happen to try it again one night and it worked. Not sure what happened. The set keys don't work, but that's fine with me since I can't turn the TV on with the buttons on the actual tv. Also, noticed I can't raise the volume quickly. I have to keep on pushing it to get the number I want, but the other buttons seem to work quickly.

We do not like the 'smart' Samsung remote that came with one of our TVs. We do not use the voice recognition, and almost every time the remote has an issue syncing to the TV. Seeing that the basic remote like this worked with everything on the TV (other than the universal remote feature), we picked this up. The only downside to this remote (other than not being able to use the universal remote - ie control other devices connected to TV) is that it doesn't seem to have a hold or sustain feature. For example, the actual Samsung remote like this, if you hold an arrow button to 'seek' through a video, you can hold the button down and it speeds up. But on this remote, even if holding, it only ever sends the one command. This is a miserable experience if you are trying to fast forward a long time through a movie or the like.

Original remote for Samsung Smart TV was acting weird/slow so I invested less than $15 in this new remote. PROS: - Almost exactly like original remote - No setup, beyond adding batteries, needed to start using - The Netflix, HULU, and Amazon Prime buttons work perfectly - Cost, it was less than $15 - Buttons work well, easy to push (not hard and difficult) CONS: - NONE Would buy again!

The old remote would not recharge and went for this basic model. Put the batteries in and off to the races. Nice that there was nothing to do and it just worked. Sometimes old school is the way to go with remotes. Thank you and all the linked buttons also worked. Netflix, Prime... - JD

I love this product. I had an identical remote for my 3yo Samsung TV, which I'm pretty sure had too many encounters with the kids spilling on it, so shorted out on me. This replacement remote worked perfectly and didn't need to program it or anything which I thought was pretty awesome... on a side note, I'm sure the samsung company would have charged me more than what I paid for the replacement.

This was the third remote I purchased for use with our Samsung QN85BD TV. While the earlier purchases more resembled the remote that came with the TV, they weren't very good One had a battery compartment too long to maintain proper contact with the required AAA batteries. Another just didn't work reliably. This one has worked very well.

This is a reasonably priced replacement but has the same limitations regarding quick assess to You Tube TV. That may be based on the age of the Samsung TV. The original remote slowly degraded its capacity to function overall even with new batteries. At least the new remote does function.
