I usually wear a 7 1/2 wide shoe. After reading reviews of this boot, I ordered a size 8, in matte black. When I first put them on, the comfort seemed fine. Since I anticipate wearing them in situations where I have to walk or stand a lot, I then pulled the inserts out of another pair of boots and dropped them in these on top of the existing insole (nothing major, just one of those 1/8 inch thick cut-to-fit gel inserts that are $10 for 2 pair at the local superstore) to make them even cushier. But as I wore them around in the house for a while, a couple things began to bother me. First, they started to feel just a touch narrow around the top & side of the ball of my feet. Not enough to really HURT, but enough that I thought it would probably annoy me if I wore them for long stretches. Second, although I have a wide foot, I don't have a wide calf, so there was a pretty big gap at the top of the boot. I've already packed them to send back now, but I'd say maybe enough to fit my fist into? The opening of the boot rests in an oval shape (tall front to back, narrower side to side), and since thick rubber is such a stiff substance, this meant that with every step I took, the boot would shift from pressing up against the back of my leg to pressing up against the front of my leg, with the sides lightly rubbing along the side of my leg as they went back and forth. And although there was nothing particularly sharp or uneven around the top of the boot, that sliding action with Every. Single Step. began to get rather annoying. Finally, standing in front of the mirror, I also decided I wasn't terribly happy with the height of the boot from a visual standpoint. This may have been because in solid black with a little decorative buckle at the side, it reads as a "regular" boot. I might have felt differently if I had gotten one of the brighter colors that would read more as a "rain boot" (like in those nostalgic images of kids or young women with raincoats & umbrellas frolicking and splashing in puddles). Three strikes and the boot was out! I decided to try some taller boots instead. This company makes the exact same boot in a taller version that has about the same size opening, but hits closer to the widest part of my calf, and that's the one I ended up deciding to keep. No other boots I looked at or tried on quite fit all my criteria either, and I ended up deciding that for the price I could live with that tiny bit of squeeze around my toes, which only seems to be an issue later in the day anyhow.

I love these boots and I didn’t think I would. I bought them in red along with a red umbrella and people have been stopping me to compliment them. They are my favorite purchase. I keep them in my car and switch them out for my sneakers when it’s raining.

We had lots of mud on our patio and in our yard following recent severe storms. My galoshes were not doing the job. Finally decided I needed some proper boots to help me walk through the mud and work in the mud. These are easy to put on, and are pretty comfortable. Because they don't have a lot of support on the foot, I wouldn't want to wear them all day doing a lot of physical work. But, I did wear them 3 or 4 hours and it was just fine. Easy to hose off the mud. They look nice enough that I will wear them out and about during regular rain. P.S. I wear 9 1/2 shoes and ordered size 10 boots, I wear with thick socks or 2 pair of regular socks. That works for me.

I normally wear like an 8.5 and I got a 9. I can wear socks and still have a little room. Some reviews said the top were rubbing on their shins. I had no issue with that. The first day I wore them I walked for 3 miles and I wore them again today and wore them for 4.13 miles (it was supposed to rain and I needed to take a walk). Anyway, I would highly recommend these. Also I love the bright yellow that I got, people commented that they look so fun.
