    • Flashing fast
After getting this computer I wished I have got it sooner. It is super fast to run and power up in seconds! It took 20 minutes to start my old laptop. Very happy with the performance of this new one.

    • Problems after only purchased less than 6mos ago.
Initially I thought this was a great product and left a very favorable review of it's performance, speed and features. I am now completely amending my original overall assessment of this device. It seems as though it was designed to fail. Despite paying for all of the available Norton Antivirus, Identity theft, overall health and easy to use complete scans and reports finding no issues with my computer it has become incredibly slow and is acting erratically due to something inherintly wrong with the OS or hardware. I've tried every diagnostic tool to try and find out what the issue is and I get nothing but healthy reports. It is not due to any viruses or trojans as I am extremely careful about how I use it and there has been no indication of any malware or anything of the such reported by my Norton softwary which costs me a small fortune to keep my subscription to. There is no other logical conclusion than this computer was doomed to fail whether it be from improper storage environments or inherent issues prior to my purchase. The window to return or replace the item just passed by in June and there is nothing left but a failing computer which will soon be garbage. As I am financing this Item I have no other recourse than to contact the finance company to try to get my money back. I am terribly disappointed in Amazon for selling me this crap computer. In the future I will be very wary of what I buy from Amazon as their products have gone down hill significantly over the last couple of years. ... show more

    • Know Your Display Needs
This is a revised review. I was very happy with this laptop at first, but I thought there was something wrong with the display colors. Certain websites looked washed out, and I spent many hours on the phone with HP Support, even sending the laptop to a repair center at one point. It turns out that this model only supports 6 bit color, not 8 bit, which should have been explained on my first support call. Instead, they spent hours by remote, trying to fix something that was unfixable. It was shockingly bad support from HP, and it came as a real surprise to me that modern laptops can vary so much in their display quality. I ended up returning this computer for one with a better display, and the seller was very cooperative in processing my refund. Again, the laptop itself was very good, and 8 bit color is displayed on an external monitor. But if you are using this for creative work and need true colors, just beware of the hardware limitations.     • This is my third HP 17.
My first was a touch screen. I love the keyboard and it has a very large screen. Battery life is good. Processing speed is fast. Top hinge design is weak. I had to repair mine (epoxy). If you don’t open and close it often, probably not a problem. Needless to say, I now have three and they do everything I want them to do. ... show more

What I like about this computer is the speed. It is very responsive. What I don't like about it: I have had this for 2 weeks and Windows 11 has crashed 4 times while I have been using it and crashed 1 more time while I was away. I do not want to return it yet but Windows 11 seems to be buggy. I have a couple of weeks to decide to return it.     • Fast and cheap
Only thing I dislike so far is that it does NOT have backlit keyboard. Another reviewer said that it did and that was one reason I chose this computer. Also, it seems to run hot. I have not heard a cooling fan kick in and I am going to need to get a cooling pad to keep it from overheating after long use. ... show more

    • The PC when I finally tried to start it wouldn't boot
PC has from today, July 9, 2022 the second time I tried to start it, (I have a primary desktop and laptop already) wouldn't boot windows. Instead it goes into a an automatic repair or shut off loop. I haven't been able to use the laptop
