First of all, I wasn't too confident with the reviews of this product, but the specs of the laptop were too great to just ignore them, so I bought it for about a month ago and I have to say that it's an amazing laptop. I work as a developer and I can tell that this laptop is insanely fast. I upgraded the ram up to 16 (bought 2x8 crucial) and install another ssd and it's all that you probably have to do with this laptop, everything else is perfect. It arrived earlier that expected. The battery lasts long, the power supply never gets hot. The graphics card is Similar to a 1660. I play PlanetSide 2 for free on steam, it's an open world fps with good graphics and heavy battling between TONS of other people all at once and it runs through it fine on just about any of the graphics settings. It may get hot if you don't have a flat surface and the fans are louder but the volume can EASILY negate it. Good brightness, fastest newest version of windows, no bloatware. All and all this laptop hits all the marks. Would upgrade SDD and Ram for better performance. I am so happy it's lightweight and good battery for using it as a desktop. After all the laptops I've bought through the years this one is definitely the cleanest for sure. I'm going to take good care of it. I highly recommend the G5 if you've had trouble with finicky laptops in the past like me. Would make a GREAT Christmas present. ... show more

Used twice, had off power supply, tried to turn on and nothing. Troubleshooted by holding down the power button for 30s. Nothing. Took off back panel and disconnected the battery to fix. Not exactly what I’d love to do after such a short period

    • Couldve been amazing
This laptop was incredible when i first got it, however now the amd adrenaline doesnt want to work right with the odd graphics card, there is simply *very* little support to help the few people who have bought it. So back to the story, games like forza and gta sometimes wont start for days at a time and then randomly ill try it and it works like a charm. Games also have no clue what the hell the card even is since i guess theres so few that use this laptop. I had to downgrade the graphics driver too, call of duty and forza would display very weird visual artifacts making them unplayable. I also once reset the device to factory everything and upon this is when the card didnt want to play right with adrenaline. The "G" key that i guess switches the fan to max also doesnt work. The keys on the keyboard responsible for turning the light on and off, also useless. Its been pretty good though without the software bugs i just wish there was a team at dell to help iron it out. But when it does work, which is actually more than most times, just annoying when it doesnt, it plays games incredibly well. I get 80 fps on high on forza, around 70 on COD, and close to 100 on GTA. Very nifty, im just glad someone gave it to me and i didnt have to spend money on it. ... show more

This laptop is very good had for over 2 years with no issues besides it getting a bit hot after gaming for a bit but gotten a pad with fans to cool off while i play , also take into consideration that you will need to upgrade the ram to 16,32 etc… because although the 8gb can run most of the games there is still and little bit of graphic issues but other than that it is an amazing laptop for the price ... show more

There is a red light under the keyboard and it can't be shutoff or changed. Very hard to see the keys.

This is a very good buy for pc gaming on the go, but mainly bought it for djing reasons, you can turn off and on the fan boost and keyboard lights pressing the FN button along with the corresponding buttons since some reviews mentioned they couldn't, ONE complaint I have is the RAM, too little for the tasks it's thrown, needs 16 gigs instead of 8, then it'll work like a dream since most games won't run with 8 gigs of ram alone, overall, great pc! ... show more
