Van Staal VR 50 is truly an engineering marvel.
Color: Silver Size: VR50
I absolutely love this reel. It's the best investment that I made in fishing equipment! It's beautiful, well crafted and smooth. You can feel the sturdiness and quality of the reel soon as you handle it! It's like the AK 47 of fishing reels! In other words, it's reliable in battle. I get so many compliments on it and I can't wait to bring it to the Florida Keys. Well done Van Staal!!! 👏 👏 👏 👏 ... show more

Van Staal is the best
I am extremely biased on this. Best sealed reel ever. I have several and my original one has gone through a lot of abuse and it is still solid. if you can get this on sale like I did I would jump on it.

AWESOME!!!
Color: Silver Size: VR50
Excellent fishing reel! Tested it on a few striped bass, takes almost zero effort to reel in, compared to other fishing reels. Super smooth, excellent drag, waterproof, and full metal. Not to mention, super super light weight. Anyone who’s not quite sure of buying one, just get it! You won’t regret it! ... show more

Customer service
Color: Silver Size: VR75
I purchased this reel and as you may know they are not cheap. I been having trouble loading the spool with braid and mono it loads more on the bottom and less on top. I text van staal four times and never got a reply the reel might be very good but there customer service department has a lot to be desired in the future. I definitely will stay away from this brand. ... show more

Handle orientation
Color: Silver Size: VR50
The VR series is not a reel where the orientation can be switched from left handed to right handed. Not fun to find this out after paying $500 for a reel. I called Van Staal, and they confirmed it cannot be switched. Beautiful reel though.

Bulletproof Saltwater Surf Reel
Color: Silver Size: VR150
I've wanted a Van Staal for years and years, and now that I could afford one, I was not let down. The reel is amazing—the smooth drag stands out. Line spools on beautifully and casts like a dream. I've dropped it in the sand a few times, no grinding or sticking. It's built to take a beating and still function perfectly. Worth the money. Hope to catch many more fish with it. ... show more
