  • Decent headphones
Color: Black Style: Nova 3
These are decent headphones. Totally worth the price. I like the quality of the materials, also the microphone does a decent job, its a retractable microphone, on a flexible arm (sort of a wire) so you can place it precisely in front of your mouth. But if by accident you touch the cable it makes strange noise but I don't care. I've never felt something unusual regarding their weight, for me they fit perfectly fine. The don't have Bluetooth but I don't care as I only use the cable. ... show more

  • Hear me out the five stars is if this is the style you like and this is your max price point.
Color: Black Style: Nova 3
Pros: Decent Quality sound could be better, nice and easy customizability with the RGB lights, comfortability on point. Cons: The RBG is a thin circle as shown and isn't all that bright and came with micro cracks in the RGB so that was meh as someone with OCD. If you can spend the extra or can save just a little more just go with the arctic 7s or something different. I've bought the Arctic sevens and the quality over all was better just minus the RGB lighting. the RGB is nice for the aesthetics but truly if you can spend more or save and avoid grabbing these. like I said if this is your price point and you're a SteelSeries fan like me grab these isn't but I recommend just saving and go to a newer pair from SteelSeries. ... show more

  • Hardware is great, software isn’t
Color: Black Style: Nova 3
Replaced my Arctis 5s which had the mic go out. These are improved in every way. The sound quality is impressive for the price, they’re light and comfortable, and the mic is serviceable for gaming. The real problem is that the sound potential is only fully realized with Sonar, which is pretty decent functionally but terrible interface/design wise. You can’t default the Sonar settings to use “system sound device,” so when it’s on, changing the audio output device in Windows own sound tray does nothing because Sonar overrides it. You have to specifically open GG and manually change individual categories to the audio output you want - every time. Very, very annoying - who in the world thought that would be fun and convenient for anybody? To add insult to injury, Sonar creates an audio channel in the Windows sound tray for every category - just to override any selection you make there. It’s outrageously bad design and super confusing, This could be a 5/5 if not for Sonar doing that OR if the Engine EQ worked as well and you could leave Sonar off but it sounds significantly worse with Sonar off. I don’t want to open an app, then go to Sonar, then go to the category JUST to switch back from headphones to speakers, for EACH category like media, gaming, etc. Fire whoever designed this UI ... show more

  • Between the Razer Kraken and Arctis Nova, Arctis is by far the superior option
Color: Black Style: Nova 3
Whether by accident or design all my peripherals to date have been Razer, this includes the Razer Kraken Tournament Edition Headset, it was a good headset with excellent sound and build quality, it lasted me for years despite being dropped, stepped on, twisted and bent, the mic finally gave out after i accidentally dropped it in a bucket of water and even then every other aspect of the headset worked. If this sounds like a ringing endorsement of the Razer, it is, so much so i was intending to just buy the exact same headset to replace it. But instead i took a chance with the Steel Series Arctis Nova 3, it was slightly cheaper than the Kraken at the time and in my honest opinion it is better in every way, the sound clarity for the cost is appreciably better than the Kraken and the Mic comes with noise cancelling that i actually use because it works and isn't a pointless gimmick. But, where it truly shines over the Kraken is the absolutely better software if you've owned a Razer Headset you will agree that it can be a pain sometimes to get the software to function properly, and sometimes it just stops working randomly, not to mention there was an entire period of time where the THX feature of the Kraken {yes the biggest selling point of the headset} literally stopped working for months after a Razer software update, no such issue with Steel Series' Sonar. Another major complaint i had with the Razer is the control box for the THX spatial audio and other controls its an annoying dangling hinderance, it comes with sticky tape but that then limits how far away from your device you can take it, it's by far the worst aspect of the Razer Kraken, all the controls for the Arctis Nova are flush with the headset and easily identifiable and useable without actually needing to see them. Another problem with the Razer Kraken was the design of the ear muffs made my face a sticky sweaty mess, this made it difficult to wear for extended period in a non-air conditioned room, the Arctis Nova 3 is by far more comfortable and the weight of the headset is noticeably lighter than the Kraken. All in all if you're looking for a good sub 100$ dollar headset and you inevitably come up with a head to head between this and the Razer Kraken, this one is better by far. ... show more
