    • This is the forth NEW starter on this high Milage ford Expedition.
These starters , I have had a problem with the first three starters with intermittent non engagement, The original factory starter started having intermittent engagement problem to ring gear on torque converter at about 170K miles. The 5.4 motor was changed out do to exhaust leak in the cooling system and repalced with a new 5.4 ford motor from Ford manufacturing. A new starter was installed at that time and after several thousand miles had intermittent engagement problem. The starter was not loose in mounting so the problem had to be internal to starter and/or engagement ring gear on torque converter.. A third new replacement starter installed and worked fine for about 45K miles and then started the same intermittent problem. Note all these failed starters are the same model new starter , not rebuilds.. ... show more

    • It worked great for the 3 months that it was in the truck
This is definitely an advanced project for people looking to take on a starter replacement on their own for the f-150s there's not much room in these particular trucks for a manual ratchet if you have an electric ratchet it'll make the job go so much smoother. As mentioned in the preview the starter worked great for the 3 months that it was installed in the truck unfortunately after those three months the truck was hit head on by another car and totaled so I can't really speak to its longevity although I can say it did still work after the crash because we started the truck to pull it onto the flatbed My grandparents who own and drive the truck are both fine they weren't injured in the wreck just unfortunate that the starter had such a short life. ***update 12/30/2021*** Over a year since purchasing this starter and installing it. Still going strong! Best automotive purchase on Amazon yet! I received this starter very quickly. I didn't have many expectations for it, just wanted a starter that works and fits my truck. I have found that this starter is extremely strong, my truck a 2001 Ford F150 with 295,000 miles on it starts up every time with the first try! I do recommend this starter, I could not rate it for easy to install low because it's not the manufacturer's fault that FORD has poor placement of the K-member under their trucks. This made it difficult to install, but as far as installation it is a breeze. Just a couple of wires and bolts and you're done! ... show more

Fit in a 2005 f-150 4x4 super crew king ranch Worse fit up that Ford has ever designed on a starter. A pain in the you know what to install. 2 hrs to remove the old one and install the new one. Had to take off the solenoid to remove and install.

Seems to be very good has not been just a few days since i put it in. Just a note, on the 2007 F150 XLT 4x4 Ford 3 bolt starter to get top bolt you have to go through fender well with a long extension and swivel.
