  • The fourth one of these I've installed- excellent quality and reliability!
Style: RX130iN - 7.1 GPM
See my super long review further down with photos. Just stopped in to say I've now installed four of these units (and an older Rinnai as well). Excellent quality, performance, and reliability in a very, very cold alpine climate! I installed this most recent unit a few weeks ago in a large 10-person ski condo at 8,000 feet. Worked beautifully right out of the box (as did the previous four). Our water up here is ice cold out of the ground but this model has no problem with two showers and the dishwasher all running simultaneously even when it's 10 degrees outside. One huge benefit of Rinnai that became apparent the weekend I installed it: the owner of another unit in my building had hired a plumber to install a tankless in his unit that same day. Around noon, my neighbor called me and said "Hey, we have propane in this building and not natural gas, right?" Yes. Yes we do. Well damn, his plumber had mistakenly brought up a natural gas model. Before I knew what brand my neighbor was installing, I jokingly said "Well I sure hope it's a Rinnai so you can just change the setting to propane!" No, it wasn't. The plumber was installing a Bradford White and was SOL having brought up the wrong model. I should add that our remote location is an hour's drive to the closest Home Depot or other big box store. My neighbor got so frustrated with trying to reschedule with the plumber he ended up just having the guy install a regular tank later that day. At the same time I was powering up this Rinnai and about to enjoy endless hot water for the next 25 years. Had the plumber chosen Rinnai, it would have been a 30 second config change on the settings menu to switch it over to propane. Whoops! Minor gripe that they no longer include the hot and cold flush/diverter valves nor the emergency pressure release valve, so tack on another $50 or so for all three of those for your installation. The unit itself is incredibly small, light, and easy to install by yourself. Buy this tankless. You'll be very happy. ... show more

  • Very effective Very effective
Style: RX130iN - 7.1 GPM
I hooked this up myself. Was a little bigger job than I thought, mostly from upgrading the gas line to 3/4" and moving the water lines. Once everything was hooked up it was very easy to set up and get going. As soon as I was done checking for leaks and bleeding the air out it fired right off after the set up. Should be a money saver over the years. ... show more

  • Quality, ease of using opener to adjust settings, efficiency
Style: RX130iN - 7.1 GPM
Love it. Some things about DIY installation were profession leaning for no reason, but was able to replace my previous T@kagi with full recirculation, by totally ignoring their *1^@ installation App and using the panel to set the options. Optional modules are illogical for my uses, including expensive clock scheduling of re-circ and wi-fi module. I have used an inexpensive digital plug in outlet to turn re-circ off at night for 16 years so just kept using. Some people may want to control remotely if they travel a lot, and wi-fi module is not too expensive. The quality of the unit in general is great and replacement motherboards are reasonable if you ever need one. Do not use sensitive setting if using external record pump. Then works perfect. Nice that temp setting is by the degree on panel once operating instead of limited number of settings every so many degrees. ... show more

  • Slow to heat
Style: RX130iN - 7.1 GPM
I replaced a tankless water heater with this brand. It works well but takes a bit more time to heat up the water compared to the first one. I’d estimate about 50% longer to heat water (hence 4 stars) However, once hot, it works flawlessly.

  • Endless HOT water!
Style: RX130iN - 7.1 GPM
We are so satisfied with this water heater! It was purchased to replace a 20 yr old tankless w/h & was professional installed by McLeod Plumbing! Endless supply of hot water without the extra heating bill with the regular w/h! Saves so much space & is very quiet. Pricing was comparable to our local hardware store but the in store stock was slim! My father will be switching to this tankless w/h ! ... show more

  • A great Tank less replacement A great Tank less replacement
Style: RX130iN - 7.1 GPM
I bought this a number of months ago to replace an ailing Bosch FX240 that's about 20 years old. I finally got to a point of replacing the old one. I did have to run a 2 inch PVC to the side of the house for the exhaust and transitioned one of my old stacks into an fresh air intake. This Heater just works so much better and seems like I have more control over the water temperature now at the faucet. I'm very pleased with this unit. ... show more

  • Fairly easy to install, works well!
Style: RX130iN - 7.1 GPM
I bought this to replace a standard tank water heater, I live in a smaller townhouse and I don't need a lot of capacity. It went in well, was easy to run the exhaust pipe through the existing heater vent. You'll probably have to buy the additional water polisher and the condensate neutralizing capsule, so it will be a little more expensive after everything is put together. Also, you may need to get into the BIOS and change the flow rate if you have a high efficiency washing machine. Mine did not draw enough hot water under the default settings to turn the heater on, but it's easy to change that, it's in the instruction manual. ... show more
