My left thumb is easily strained in certain positions (like opening a jar), and my old pepper grinders often hurt to use as I grip with my left and crank with my right, especially if I need a lot of pepper in a dish... This is the best pepper grinder ever. It twists with minimal effort and puts out a good amount of seasoning. I mainly use the smallest grind setting and love that it’s adjustable. The bottom gray part is silicone which makes gripping it even easier. I don’t have trouble with joints but I imagine this would be easy and comfortable to use for someone who does. ... show more

i gave the grinder 5 stars which is a bit higher than it deserves but i've had good luck with OXO products so they've earned a free star.....the grinder seems made of quality material....it works just like other twist grinders i've owned.....frankly i think it would be a better grinder and easier to use with a hand crank on the top rather than the huge ball/grip feature, maybe future OXO grinders will include a bell crank option for turning the mechanism.....and secondly its a bit overpriced for what it is, standard old fashioned twist grind technology at a premium price. ... show more

My spouse has an irritable bowel disease and has been told to stay away from things like seeds. To my dismay, this also means I needed to find an alternative to our pepper grinder. I refused to get the little tin of ground black pepper that my parents keep. I had a hard time comparing the size of pepper that has been cracked. I settled on this one because it has five size options and I was skeptically hopeful. Thankfully, I have tested it out on all 5 settings and compared to our old grinder. I’m attaching pictures, but for reference, our old grinder, on it’s smallest setting, is bigger than the biggest setting on this grinder. The first 2 sizes are small and fine enough that the width isn’t any wider than the year font on a dime. These will likely be my go to. They’d probably be yours too if you have ulcerative colitis or crohns. The first size almost resembles ground pepper in a shaker Grinder feels sturdy and I imagine I’ll never need to replace it. The turning mechanism is rubbery and it turns so smoothly one may even wonder why this is needed. ... show more

This is a turn upside down and turn the bottom type. OXO is just a great brand. When my battery-powereed one broke, I just said no more !!! The OXO one came with perppercorns loaded so I could use it right out of the box. I'm happy with my new pepper grinder.
