  • This really works great and I am very impressed
Style: Jointer
I run a sawmill and wood shop and generally make paneling and lumber for sale. I had a large jointer that I never used so I sold it in the fall. Of course you should never sell something like that because I just started making trim and needed a jointer. The WEN was a quick shipping option at a decent price with the helical cutter head. Its a no brainer if you can get a helical head. They are so much easier to work with, sharpen or replace. And no adjusting for depth. This cuts smooth and clean like passing through butter on my pine trim. I am making absolutely perfect, matching trim pieces. They are all turning out to the exact same width after running through this machine. I machine one edge on the jointer and then run it through the table saw to cut to size. Then run it 2x more through the jointer on the freshly cut side. Perfect every time. It is relatively quiet although I wear hearing protection. It works better with planed lumber though. Rough sawn lumber catches on the rear fence and makes running boards through a bit tougher. For my needs, running pine trim boards through, even 8ft long, it is turning out great. I use infeed and outfeed rollers and have had no problems. I figured this may be a temporary tool in my wood shop. But now I will be using this as long as it continues to work. ... show more

  • Efficient and Surprisingly Good Quality 6" Jointer for Small Projects
Style: Jointer
This WEN jointer is a solid choice for beginners entering the market. While it operates at a standard noise level for planers, the build quality surpasses expectations, pleasantly surprising users. The dust collection system stands out for its effectiveness, keeping the workspace clean. With a 6" size limitation, it may not handle large projects, but excels in precision for items within that range, delivering excellent square cuts. Its compact design is a perfect fit for small workshops with limited space, ensuring that every tool has its place without overcrowding. Whether you're tackling DIY projects or small woodworking tasks, this jointer offers reliable performance and impressive results. ... show more

  • Great entry level jointer.
Style: Jointer
A spiral head cutter for under $300?!?! I figured it was worth the risk to check it out and I am very satisfied. While the infeed and outfeed tables are only aluminum, they do not flex under usage. The cutter head leaves very clean surfaces on maple and purpleheart (both are prone to tear-out, but the jointer did a great job). As per instructions, I would recommend only taking 1/32" passes at a time. The motor does not hesitate at that depth nor did it hesitate on a 1/16" test pass, but I would not cut that deep in actual use. The tables were also almost perfectly level, requiring only raising the back, far corner by a 32nd or so. (Plenty of videos on how to level the tables are available.) The fence is the weakest link. While not hard, it takes a bit of work to get it square and true to the table. Make sure you have a good try-square to set it and double check it on the outfeed and infeed tables before every use. That would be the one change I would like to see. Also, a few screws were a little loose out of the package, but that's a common occurrence with many benchtop tools. Pros: Price Lightweight. Great for a small shop like mine Clean cuts in hardwood like maple Comes with set up tools and safety pushers The tables are well machined and flat Motor is powerful enough Almost ready out of the box. Only took ~2 hours to level and true the tables and fence, and set up for perfect square cuts. Cons: Fence setup is a little tricky to make sure it's true No onboard tool storage Both of these are very minor issues. In summary, if you take the time to give this jointer a little out-of-the-box TLC, you have a fantastic light-duty machine. I have mostly run maple and poplar through it with no issues and I definitely have no regrets buying it. ... show more

  • A perfect example of quality at an affordable price.
Style: Jointer
WEN products are quickly becoming my go-to for quality affordable woodworking tools. This newer Spiral Head version is absolutely amazing! Setup was very easy and I was jointing lumber less than 15 minutes after taking it out of the box. As stated in the instructions, the work surface is coated with a thick layer of oil, which will need to be removed and replaced with a good paste wax. As advertised, the cuts are extremely smooth, accurate, and fast. Also, the amount of noise the machine makes is much less than other jointers/planners I've used and the dust collector seems to work quite well at removing dust/chips from the bottom and the amount of chips thrown from the top of the machine seem to be very minimal... so still a good idea to use appropriate hearing/eye protection. Another bonus with this type of jointer is the way the individual blades can be quickly replaced. Each blade has 2 sharp edges and are adjusted with the included hex tool. The majority of the work I do is with thinner lumber, so having the ability to only switch-out the dull blades (closest to the fence) is a nice touch! Great product for the weekend woodworking warrior or part-time craftsman. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • works great
Style: Jointer
This is great for small projects. The out-feed table is a pain to adjust but once you get it level to the blades then your set. The spiral cutterhead is a nice upgrade from the straight blades, making a smoother finish cut. If you do your homework on these, you'll find they are all built in the same factory. Brands set their own price. Whatever size you're in the market for 6"-12", just find the best price. The factory even sells their own brand and starting with the 8"and up they offer a cast iron table and fence. We went with this one for a small shop where we mostly build cutting boards. ... show more

  • Great bench top jointer at this price point.
Style: Jointer
Just got my JT630H Jointer. Set up was a snap. I don't know why people were having problems with the fence set up. The two orange levers are spring loaded and can be repositioned to tighten down the bracket holding the fence and keep out of each other's way. After a few minutes the fence was straight to the table and 90 degrees to the table. It seems very solid and should stay aligned. My shop vac hose is slightly big for the supplied dust port so I will need an adapter. I wish they could standardize these dimensions, so you didn't have to buy another part to make it work. Ran a 1"x4" oak about 2' long that had been cut from a larger board on a table saw through this jointer. It removed all saw marks on the face and edge and left a very smooth perfect 90-degree face/edge. For doing work on boards up to 6" wide x up to 4' long this would be great choice at this price. If you watch any videos on set up of this jointer, don't pay too much attention to the one where he puts the fence on upside down. I give this 5 stars. ... show more

  • Why did I wait so long?
Style: Jointer
I have a planer, I have a hand plane, I have a table saw. Getting this Jointer, really helps set everything up for the dimensions that you are aiming for. For my shop, I do not need anything greater than a 6" because having a 6" thick board is not only heavy, for anything greater than that and needing to "flatten" the wood, can just go through my planer. Between getting a jointer and a planer, I would say a planer would be best as your first purchase, then getting a jointer, if you are looking to make your wood dimensional. Aluminum fence, aluminum face, easy to change out carbide blades. Adjustment pieces are plastic, but after using it for about 2 months, I haven't noticed any issues with it being plastic. The dust collection, if you have a set up, works well, but if you forget to turn it on, say once or twice, it will collect in the duct and you will need to pull it out (if you left the hose attached without the suction). The cuts from the jointer are clean and feel very smooth. It came out at 90* right out of the box for me. Fence is easy to adjust, and the blade guard goes right back over the blades quickly and effectively. ... show more
