Edit - now this piece of junk is constantly losing wifi connection and spamming me with notifications. Just don't buy this garbage This thermostat really frustrated me when I received it. On the plus side for me, I already had Honeywell "dumb" thermostats installed by my builder, so for me to install it was a matter of just pulling the old one off of the Honeywell universal thermostat adapter and sticking the new one on. If you don't have Honeywell units, you will have to wire up the provided adapter. On the strong negative side, both units just straight up refused to register after install and connecting to wifi, which meant they just absolutely didn't work with wifi at all. The Resideo app is pretty crude and bad. I worked with support for a week and learned that you must enable "Always allow" location services to get past this problem, and now the devices are registered. I connected them to Homekit seamlessly afterwards, but my primary goal is to get them connected to Home Assistant. This is not well supported and requires some technical skill, so if that's your goal and you are not a coder / tech savvy, maybe look for a different option. ... show more

The customer service was disappointing. I was told numerous times it didn’t integrate with HomeKit. I finally sent a picture of the box and got a different answer. Once I found the place for the integration code the rest was easy. The native app requires a complete restart process to change the schedule which is a pain. Install was easy. I installed it myself and configure through the app on my phone, created an account in the app it was a breeze you should have a C wire or else you need to provide one google it. So far working fine through my home Wi-Fi everything is synching very well, I'm thinking of replacing the rest of my old thermostat in my house, I will keep updating this post for any issues later on . I used wall command to stick it to the wall. no need to drill holes I have 4 wires for my thermostat (G,Y1,C,R) , and my central air conditioner is only cooling no heating. tools needed for installation: 1. Phillips screw driver 2. First alert app on iPhone app store 3. Take a picture for your old thermostat wiring before you start removing the wires and apply same wiring in your new Honeywell home X2S 4. A wall driller or in my case I used command (Velcro) to stick it to my wall you can customize cut off the extra with a scissor if it was long or wide just put in mind not to cover any of the thermostat holes because air flows into theses for it to work. I was really waiting for a new brand of Honeywell home Wi-Fi to come out because the older ones were several years old, had bad reviews and they were expensive too compared to this. Like other reviewers have mentioned: The manual is poorly written, the Resideo app take a computer literate person to navigate through the setup (inexplicably a "schedule" was set by the app that I had to delete). I tried to register this on the Honeywell Home website but my model number does not appear in their pick list. Tried to print a pdf manual . Not available, only an online manual. Resideo app shows humidity but no option to display humidty on the thermostat itself. Changing the Heat/AC/Off modes on the thermostat requires several button pushes using two buttons. Clunky. But the bottom line is it works. I am keeping it. ... show more
