  • Great deal and great machine
Installed 64gb OWC memory with the iFixit guide. Great little machine, but wish it had a dedicated graphics card because the integrated intel graphics are super weak. Works great with an eGPU build though, but decided to go with a 2019 MacBook Pro that has a better processor and dedicated GPU.

  • Solid little machine
I was a little hesitant ordering from a non-apple vendor, but the machine arrived quickly and in perfect shape, well packaged. It's replacing a 2012 version of the same machine that has run almost continuously since then as a file server. I have high hopes that this new machine will be just as sturdy. ... show more

  • Small foot print excellent idea
So this is basically a mid range type device which you are paying for for factor and brand? Picked of from warehouse deal to make it worth it.i was going to upgrade memory and like going to service center. Sticker shock! OMG Apple. The reason I didn't get the new M1. Buying new with 16GB of ram I would probably do the M1. Same price as this new with an Intel 2018 processor. Pro's Can upgrade thank you ifixit and 9 to 6 Mac for the how to. Saved me couple of hundred but voided warranty . Maybe. Compact size Depending on needs. This is a basic home computer replacing an 2008 iMac using office, Teams, zoom, blue jeans for work. If you can get this at 30% + off, get it but new M1 entry is under 700.00 right now but NOT UPGRADEABLE internally only externally. To me, this is a good value because I picked it up from warehouse deal. Not a good value at full retail the M1 is better with 16GB of ram. " Negative" notice-currently only from Apple.com no Amazon as of yet. The color. Just blends in while behind the scenes. The stand in pic not so much lol because I went for cheapest metal one I could find and eventually this will behind the 32" Gigabyte monitor. Quiet and minimal heat. Con's Bluetooth out sucks for audio. At least with an Amazon speaker. Just purchased those (top selling) 2.00 USB ones to install vial plug in. Appears no issue with Bluetooth mouse. Had some keyboard issues with staying connected especially in and out of power saving mode. Non OEM apple keyboard. It was a nice small form factor one backlit under 45.00. So using backlit USB keyboard till I can get logi mx keyboard. Not enough USB 3.0. It should have like 3 or 4 and 2 or 3 of USB type c ports thus had to buy a hub for dual monitor support-HDMI Apple should have done one more processor bump from Intel. Even though this is the latest it's a 2018 chipset and at least new chipset gets you better video updates. Internal speaker great idea, executed poorly. Just needed to be only slightly better not awesome. So because having latest model current didn't matter to me as I am replacing 2008 cor 2 duo processor and I got bank up deal from Amazon warehouse to make it worthwhile, I would ignore the 2018 setup and go for it. You can see resale market is strong even with this the latest Intel/Mac mini. ... show more

  • It's not a 2020 mini
The listing says: Apple 2020 Mac Mini with Intel Processor (8GB RAM, 512GB SSD Storage) It's not. It's a 2018. Apparently Apple switched to M1 for the 2020 model. Otherwise it works fine, but when I tried to get AppleCare the same day I got it, the seller had not informed Apple that it had been sold, and I had to spend 20 minutes on the phone w/ Apple getting that fixed. These are seller problems. I was able to migrate from the external Time Machine drive for a dead 2014 mini, but my passwords didn't come through. That's an Apple problem. ... show more

  • Product Description is Accurate: this is the 2020 release of the 2018 Mac Mini
Some earlier reviews stated that they were disappointed to find out this is a 2018 Mac Mini. Actually, this is the early-2020 version of the 2018 Mac Mini. There were two release dates of the 2018 Mac Mini - one in 2018, and one in March 2020. The March 2020 version has the 6-core Intel i5 chipset and 512GB of flash storage. It sold new for a retail price of $1099 when it was released. At the time of this review (Feb 2024), Amazon is selling it for $419. Good value for an excellent computer. ... show more

  • Easy setup
Migrated from MacBookPro and had it up and running in less than an hour. Nice to have a desktop unit that’s more powerful than my old iMac

  • Hazardous electrical issue with the 2020 Mac mini I received
Just a quick heads up for anyone considering the new 2020 Mac mini — I assume that this is a one off production issue that just affected this unit, but it's a new one for me so something to check when you unbox and set up one of these. When I plugged it in and ran my fingers along the metal of the case, I received an electric shock/buzz. The issue goes away after unplugging it, so there's definitely an issue with the power supply or construction of this particular unit. If I decide to purchase another one after returning this one I will update this review to confirm that it was an isolated issue which I assume it is. ... show more

  • I love it, but I love Mac mini since 2012
Moved my family to Mac once the oldest daughter started getting online to avoid spending every other Saturday removing viruses and malware from a bunch of Windows computers. I get a new mini, use it for a year, then pass it down to the next kid. My 2012, mini started having video issues while my youngest was using it. Kids are homeschooled so these computers are heavily used. I researched a fix for the 2012 and it involved something called "reballing" so I decided to recycle it and get my self a new one. :) I love this Mac mini. I bought 32G RAM and added it. I use it to edit video for church, some photoshop editing. The performance increase is notable. I suspect 32G of RAM has something to do with that. Everything else about this mac and OSX is seamless and usable. 5 stars too because the price on Amazon is often times a little better than what you can get elsewhere. ... show more
