  • Beautiful Case and Perfect for Kids of All Ages!
Color: Unicorn Valley
My daughter had been expressing interest in reading, so I bought her the kids version of my kindle and she loves it! It came with 6 months of Amazon Kids for free, and that in itself made it worth the price I paid for it. The battery lasts forever, and it was sooo easy to set up. It only allows her to read books, so it doesn’t have any other distractions like a tablet would. Setting it up took no time at all. It was fast. It also downloads books really fast too. The backlight allows for her to read at night, and has been helping her fall asleep without her tv and that’s a big deal. It’s designed really nicely and the built in case protects the kindle perfectly from drops. I love the beautiful colors on the case. ... show more

  • Great for kids!
Color: Space Whale
I got this Kindle for my niece and she loves it. It’s super easy for her to use and keeps her busy with tons of books and kid-friendly content. The case feels sturdy and protects it well—definitely durable enough for a kid. The parental controls are really helpful and easy to set up, which gives peace of mind. Battery lasts a long time too. It’s a great way to get kids into reading without the distractions of a regular tablet. Totally worth it. ... show more

  • Got my 8 year old to read more chapter books
Color: Ocean Explorer
I got the Kindle for my 8 year old for reading more chapter books. And it works. The kid liked to check out graphic novels when we went to the library. With the Kindle, we checked out ebooks from library instead. The kid has been reading more chapter books since. The Kindle is lighter and easier to carry for travel than paper books. Outside the kid's profile, it is a normal kindle for adults as well. So I have been reading more. It is a beneficial purchase for all of us. Well worth it! ... show more

  • Bought for myself
Color: Ocean Explorer
This child kindle was on sale and I bought it for myself. I've been toying with the idea of getting a kindle for a long time. I absolutely love it, It makes reading by the pool and outside of the beach so much easier! It syncs flawlessly with my phone in amazon account. It was easy to switch over to the adult profile. I can switch back over to the child profile and they can read their books without issue. The only problem is, if it were for a kid, it is only black. And white and my kid was disappointed in that, but it makes no difference to me. It's a great size and comes with a cover. I don't particularly care for the design but it works. ... show more

  • Comparing old and new Kindles
Color: Space Whale
I bought this for me, an adult, partly because Wirecutter recommended it. My old Kindle is from 2012 and still works but it no longer connects directly to Amazon so it’s hard to download a book. And it doesn’t have a touch screen. So I wanted to update. I now use both Kindles - they sync easily to the whatever page I’m on. I actually prefer the feel and look of the older one, but I’m glad I got the new one with its modern features. Pros: The Kids Kindle comes with a cover. The whale cover is beautiful and makes me smile! I considered buying a plain adult Kindle, but a cover was not included, and I didn’t want the hassle of shopping for one separately - reading a million reviews, etc. Price - you get more for your money with a kids kindle, like the included cover. You can adjust the screen brightness. My old Kindle isn’t really lit, and I love that, but the adjustable brightness is handy. And you can still dim it down to virtually no backlighting. The fonts etc are adjustable. The preset layout it came with was good but I preferred the one on my old Kindle, so I adjusted the font size and the spacing between lines. You can customize a lot. The touch screen - much easier than navigating with a single button Cons: You touch the screen to turn pages. My old Kindle has side tabs, which I prefer. It’s way too easy to accidentally turn pages when you’re holding this one. This is my biggest complaint. I deducted a star because of this. The instructions. The digital instruction manual on the old one was about 5 pages. For this kids kindle, it’s like 200. And they bury the important basics - like how to find your books - so deep that it’s frustrating to find. I ended up googling for help. The cover is so slick and smooth it’s a bit slippery. Navigation - the touch screen is nice. But the kindle has so many features - how to adjust a million things, how to access things - that navigating thru it all gets confusing. I find myself avoiding doing things because I know I’ll get lost so mostly I just read my book. Final con - Kindle books are expensive! And if you think you can save money by borrowing them from your local library, think again. Their selections are often very limited, with long wait lists, because publishers charge them so much for Kindle lending books. It’s a bit smaller than my old one - half an inch or less, but I miss the extra size. ... show more

  • AMAZING PRODUCT WITH AN AMAZING WARRANTY!!!!!!!
Color: Unicorn Valley
I am just beyond impressed with Amazon and Kindle! I bought my daughter a Kid's Kindle nearly two years ago. About a week ago it would not turn on at all. So I began the return process, which was a little tricky, to be honest. But I did get it done and received a brand new updated Kindle AND a case, which I did not expect! Turns out the kid dropped it in the bathtub, dried it well, and later stated it didn't turn on..... but that is ALL still under warranty. I cannot say enough for Amazon. It is an amazing little product anyways. My daughter reads incessantly.... the equivalent of 1 Harry Potter book every two days. We have Kindle Unlimited for our family and it is sooo worth it. The Kid Kindle comes with a subscription for kids, but she read all of them in the first year, so now she's just on our Kindle Unlimited. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! AND worth to note: this is the EXACT Kindle you will get if you get the adult one, just a cuter cover (you can buy another if you don't like it) and an amazing warranty. There are options to have it shut off at certain times, which is nice. We love that she brings it EVERYWHERE and always has her current book with her ready to read INSTEAD of being on a screen. The Kindle "screen" is a book, don't get me started, lol. #BooksNotiPads is our motto!!! ... show more
