The starter on my 1952 Ford 8N went out on me last week so I looked around to find a replacement. This one was a bit lower priced than anything else I found on Amazon or E-bay. The starter arrived very well packaged. There were two styrofoam inserts in the box that were custom molded into the shape of the starter. So there were no worries about anything getting banged up or damaged during shipping. Luckily, I was able to slide the new starter in without having to unbolt the oil filter canister to make room. This is on a 51' Ford 8N. I've started the tractor up between 20- 25 times in the last 2 weeks and it cranks over every time! Thank you so much! I hope it lasts for many years. Perfect fit!

    • Don’t be fooled by metric nuts - will work
The nuts on the long thin bolts holding it together take metric a wrench. This led me to worry that threads on bolt could be metric, and therefore not thread into tractor. I took it apart, and this led to starter brushes coming loose. I tested bolts, and they did thread into tractor just fine. It was extremely difficult getting it back together. Once back together, turns over engine at much faster rate than old starter, and starts fine. ... show more
