I've used this product for many, many years, and came here to Amazon when I could no longer find it at my local Target. I'm very sensitive to smell (strong, heavy scents irritate my nose & throat), and I love the light, clean scent of this spray. The "tan" doesn't show until the next day or two, yet when it does, it looks natural on my ("medium olive") skin tone. Any tanner can stain/rub off, but I've noticed that when I allow ample time for this one to dry, it won't stain my clothing or seat. I'll use this tanning spray until Neutrogena stops making it!

I have used this product several times this summer and have not had one bad experience. I have an extremely fair skin tone and it still covers well with nice "real" looking color. I do believe it probably lasts longer on someone who has an olive skin tone or something similar. Exfoliating just before application will help remove and dry flakey skin, and that is important. The best advice I can give regarding this product is you need to use it just as the manufacturer recommends. If you spray too close to your skin then you would (as one reviewer stated) end up with uneven color, missed spots and even drips. Even though it is colorless when being applied, if you watch carefully you can see if you have gotten too close and if too much tanner has been applied in a specific area. I use a small make-up sponge and dab those spots lightly to prevent dripping and uneven color. If you find you have missed an area it is easily touched up after color is fully developed, (on average 8-10 hours). This was new to me as well and the best advice I can give anyone is practice makes perfect! Start out applying lightly, and once you have a feel for how to effectivley apply it, you will end up with nice color that doesn't wash off with one or two showers.

This product is a cheap, effective and great replacement for the expensive monthly spray tans at tanning salons. I am very skeptical of any 'over the counter,' readily available tanning products. I have been let down SO MANY TIMES with the dreaded orange skin, or the brown / orange pooling lines in wrinkles and creases after application of tanning products. MicroMist Tanning Sunless Spray by Neutrogena feels incredibly similar to their spray-on cooling sunscreen. It smells nice and applies quickly and evenly. Though it does not suggest specific details about application, this is how I applied the product: First, I use the tanning spray following a shower and shave, and before I apply daily moisturizer or facial treatments. I place the spray canister approximately ten (10) to fifteen (15) inches away, and sprayed continuously from side to side, starting at my neckline and worked my way up to my hair line. After the product was applied with an even coat, I used a damp washcloth to gently wipe area like inside my ears, eyelids, and lips, to avoid the odd staining that occurs in these areas. Alternatively, I have recently started to apply lotions and lip balm to these areas prior to application, making it easy to remove the product from those areas after drying. After I get everything coated and set, I use a blowdryer for two (2) to three (3) minutes, to quicken the drying and allow the tan to set. This usually takes four (4) to six (6) hours for me to feel like it is noticeably different, so I will generally do this after I get home from school for the day - that way it has enough time to dry and set before I go to bed. Then, I am able to use my nightly moisturizer and facial treatment before bed. The reason I did not give the Neutrogena MicroMist Tanning Sunless Spray a five star review is because of something I did not consider before using this product, that I have since learned to fix! To get an even, light coat, you are spraying the product uniformly - yet, haphazardly - horizontally across your body. Because of this, the spray mist seems to go EVERYWHERE! The wood floor, baseboards, ceiling, shower glass, toilet, light switches - everything - had a light bronze coat and was sticky. To avoid this now, I do it inside my shower, with a towel hanging up on the glass behind me. I also turn on my ceiling fan for it to ventilate out of the room quickly. Ever since doing this, it seems to be perfect, and everything in my bathroom is clean and not tanned! I would suggest this product to anybody who wants a year round tan.

This is good for touchup on a spray tan. You are trying to keep up especially on vacation. It is a good color not orange last about seven days once the color sets in.

This is by far my favorite self tanner. The fine mist goes on smoothly and the color is natural. Still, I wear a vinyl glove to smooth out any heavy areas and I use fewer applications on knees, ankles and feet since they tan easier. With these tricks, it looks completely natural. Hard to find in stores.

I have tried quite a few self tanners on my face and they all made me break out with pimples. This one doesn't do that. I am older and use wrinkle serum underneath, apply tanner and let dry a few minutes. Then, I apply a moisturizer. Then, I apply sunscreen and foundation. Tanner can irritate my eyes. The sunscreen and foundation help to prevent the eye irritation. I get a nice natural looking tan and no pimples! I use a latex glove and I apply a lot of the tanner. I would highly recommend this tanner!

I used this brand self-tanner 10 to 20 years ago but for some reason the formula seems to be different now. The scent is so strong I don't even think it's healthy to breathe. I would not repurchase.
