I am very excited about our new Birdfy Bamboo Feeder. We have had an older Birdfy feeder for about a year and have enjoyed watching the local birds come and enjoy it, while being able to get the different birds identified within the app. My daughter particularly loves when they do something silly and loves scrolling and looking for fun videos. The bamboo feeder is big, sturdy and much better looking. I like the fact that it has 2 separate seed bins, if you want to separate your seeds. There seems to be a lot more room for seeds and thus far, the video quality seems great. I am also excited to have solar for this feeder. The old one would run out of battery and just sit idle for weeks before I noticed it. And where I placed it, it wasn't easy to run a power cable to recharge it. Maybe there was a way to get a warning notification in the app, but I never found it (nor did I look very hard). But with solar, this should no longer be a problem. A few minor negatives to be aware of - since this is so big, it's also a bit heavier than the old one, and thus requires a bit more planning for mounting it. It comes with lots of mounting equipment, so that's great. But the obvious place for me to mount it was right on a squirrel super-highway, and they had a field day last time I did that. So I had to be a bit more creative this time. I had a few problems getting it set up initially, but once I allowed the app to access my location, it went smoothly. The updated app is more intuitive than before. But be aware that this will only work on 2.4GHz wifi networks. I noted that other reviews mention the quality and how it seems to fall apart once exposed to the elements. I am surprised about that, as it feels like good materials and seems to be already stained to reduce weathering. I will monitor that and update this if it seems to be a problem. ... show more

This bamboo feeder is beautifully designed and high quality. The birds love it and seem to prefer the natural wood of this feeder over other feeders we’ve used. I had several different bird species visit the first day I put it up - cardinals, chickadees, Tufted Titmice, finches, and even a woodpecker! The camera quality is excellent and it was easy to setup and use the app. I have several Birdfy feeders and love them all but the birds seem to like this one the best. The wood does need to be sealed to protect from the elements (we are in an area that gets a lot of snow). Birdfy has been great to deal with if any questions came up. Overall, this feeder has provided an amazing experience for our family. Seeing the birds all up close and filling the feeder has brought us closer to nature. We purchased this item for the aesthetics so it would blend in with the surrounding and be material conscious. However 6months on it it deteriorating significantly. Some due weather. Some angry birds. The bamboo portion has rotted in multiple places. The Perspex has been bitten away. However. The camera is amazing. Produces very clear and high resolution images. The ai portion is pretty good. Although sometimes the suggestion are quite funny :) May have to build my own box and use the camera only. FOLLOW UP: the team at Birdfy customer support have been amazing! They offered quick solution of replacement or refund. I still think this is one of the best boxes on the market. We just have a lot of angry birds. lol. The camera is truly amazing and we’ve captured so much great content and wildlife surprises. ... show more

This product is a solid step up from the original NetVue Birdfy Lite! Amazing materials and well crafted. It was very simple and easy to put together. I would advise that one has a solid spot to place the feeder, as it is bulkier and heavier than the Birdfy Lite and requires a solid foundation for its placement. The feeder allows for two different types of seed to be put in separate areas and keeps it safe from the rain and other elements. The perches are larger which allows for some of the medium to large birds to be able to perch on the feeder which is nice in allowing for a larger diversity of species to show up. You don't have to worry about batteries or plugging in the product because it comes with a solar panel that has always kept my feeders at a 100% charge. The video quality is really nice and the motion detects every time a bird comes to the feeder. It's awesome that the app allows for downloading of the videos that it captures very easily. Even when it rains and rain gets onto the camera lens it washes off on its own without human intervention! The AI has come a long way since I first got the Birdfy Lite, and now the app is very useful for helping identify the birds that come to the feeder. It is not always 100% correct in the IDs (not even Merlin bird ID gets them 100% correct because of angles of the photos taken and multiple species looking similar from similar angles) but a large majority of the time it is getting the bird correct, which is a solid job and I've seen continual progress overtime so it is heading to even higher levels of excellence. For how much I paid for this, I am beyond devastated that it looks the way it does now 😫. We decided to get this feeder as a second one for our back yard, since I received a smaller Birdfy feeder as a Christmas present and loved it. It's a LOT bigger than I expected it to be, and with the two sides to the feeder for adding different seed types it means I have to fill it up less often. I'm not a huge fan of AI worming its way into everything overall, but for something as simple as this kind of use where it will let you know what kind of bird or animal (I'm looking at you, squirrels) stops by for a snack, it's great if you don't know the species already or for notifications where you can glance and then activate the alarm on the feeder if it's someone you don't want. We've only had it for a few weeks, so we don't know how durable it will be long-term, but if you're looking for something to enjoy as a bird lover and also want to help out birdies' energy levels over harsher winters, definitely recommend this feeder. ... show more

This is the first smart birdfeeder I purchased. I purchased the Birdfy Bamboo feeder over a year ago and immediately became addicted. It is well built and the app to view close up videos and photos is user friendly with many improvements over time. The AI subscription is helpful and improving. As I mentioned, smart bird feeders is quickly addictive and I have added a total of now 19 Birdfy products, feeders, stand alone cameras, humming bird feeders, nest boxes and most recently a bird bath. The best thing about these products is the excellent customer service - they are available to help with any issues you may have through email, a phone call, live chat. This bamboo feeder worked flawlessly for over a year and then just stopped - it would not charge and would not turn on. Birdfy support walked me through a number of trouble shooting steps and when that didn’t work, they quickly sent me a new replacement feeder. I cannot recommend this product or this company enough. You will love the ability to watch and identify birds and other wild life close up. But one warning, if you start with one, it’s hard to stop adding to your collection. ... show more

As others have stated, the build quality of the Bamboo feeder is really fantastic. It's a great feeder, holds a lot of food and plenty of room for bigger birds to get it. It snaps closed so it won't blow open in wind or stops other animals with opposable thumbs can open it. But lets get to the reason why we spend $300 on a bird feeder, while the quality is good, it's not $300 good. The camera and app are absolute trash. First, they charge you for literally everything. You want bird recognition, that starts at $4.99 (and barely works). Don't want to be annoyed by every leaf that blows in the wind and only want specific notifications (like ONLY BIRDS), that's an additional $2.99 (seriously, you have to PAY THEM to shut off notifications). Want notifications about vehicles, pets and humans, that starts at $3.99. Lets see, what else, oh yeah, cloud storage (this WILL NOT record to an SD card. It says it does, but IT DOES NOT) that starts out at $1.99. Now lets get to the quality. Remember your first cellphone back in 1999, that's the quality of this camera, even set at HD. I'm exaggerating a little bit. but it's 2024, and the camera quality is barely 480p. For a camera that costs $179 (that's right, if you were to just buy the camera without the birdhouse, it costs $179. You can get a 4K outdoor camera from other companies for $100) it should be at least 4K quality. It also constantly fails to upload data to the cloud (remember what I said about SD card recording? Yeah, I have a 128GB installed (the biggest you can put in) and yet I still get errors about cloud storage failing to upload and therefore I don't get any photos or videos). I have "Excellent Wi-Fi" coverage (score of 95/100 in the app) and it fails to upload and/or live stream. Video clips I do get are only 1 second long, sorta worthless. The app was not created by anyone that has ever used an app before. It's focused mainly on selling you more stuff with the added feature of being able to watch the camera. There aren't any settings you can really change on the camera (without paying more money). There isn't even an area to view what you have saved in the cloud vs. locally (which means it's not saving anything locally). Support is also useless. Every issue I've reported they come back and say it's a "known issue" and they'll get back to me in 2 to 4 business days. Been a couple weeks and still no answers to anything. Do yourself a favor, get a Bird Buddy. They go on sale for cheaper than this. They may be all plastic, but I have two of those, they don't charge for basic features, the app is a lot more user friendly, the camera quality is better and the bird recognition is accurate about 95% of the time. ... show more
