We bought this feedercam as a combined Mothers'/Fathers' Day present to ourselves. We love it and the photo/video quality exceeds our expectations when we bought it. It's attractive to look at, mounts easily to a variety of surfaces, has a large seed hopper so you don't have to take it down. We had to get the additional hockey mask-looking screen for the front because of squirrels and doves suctioning down the food like at our other feeders. The doves still stuck their heads in until I took off the plastic perch. I mounted it about 8 feet up on a strong pole with a squirrel baffle, and the squirrels have not yet gotten to it because our older feeders remain accessible to them. It's entertaining to see doves try to get to the seed, which they can do if they hang sideways or upside down to get to it. No more crowds of jostling doves sucking down expensive seed. We were concerned about blocking larger birds we like, such as blue jays, but at least some have figured out how to hang on the mesh and stick their heads in. Other notes: Pretty easy to maintain so far. The roof easily folds forward to all refilling of the hopper. The entire unit hangs on the mount, so all you have to do is lift it off the mount to take it down. One thing to keep in mind is that the camera has a very wide angle of view and is always on. It will record any movement in the background, so you need to think about where you can put it that is not able to see the neighbors or you might get reported, or at least get negative comments from them. If you do a lot of sunbathing or other activities with minimal clothing, you might get videos of that as well. Re: the AI, it has been pretty reasonable in IDing our routine birds, which is pretty much all we have during the summer. Looking forward to the fall migration to see what it picks up. Our only issue I've noticed with the ID is actually not unexpected. We live in a crossover area for tufted and black-crested titmice, which often breed with each other to produce intermediate-looking hybrid offspring. It generically calls many of the hybrids and some black-crested titmice as tufted. I discovered it's quite easy to modify the ID on the app, however, which probably helps the AI program to improve its quality. I have one strong recommendation for improvement. The roof has almost no overhang past the edge of the feeder tray. We've gotten large amounts of rain here in central Texas this year, and even mild drizzles will soak the seed try and I have to scrape the rotting seeds out frequently. There is no available ready-made dome or shield that I can find to mount over it to reduce rain spoilage. I would like to see Birdfy produce a 3/4 round clear dome that could be slipped onto the mounting base or to the back of the feeder, to reduce the risk of soaking the seeds.

I love a lot of things about this camera when i first got it i would get 300 to 500 hits a day! The AI is not great , it will identify the same bird in one clip as 3 different birds, but it does get maybe 60 % of the birds right. The App is a little slow and clunky and i have never got the live chat to work. Thr camera was catching a lot of birds and i really enjoyed it. However after having it 2 and half months all of the sudden the camera started glitching, it would record 20 second clips but only give me 13 seconds of footage the birds would literally disappear off the screen. Customer service isn't great you wait for days to get an email from somebody. They told me to move my camera inside. Reset it, i got an email telling me to move the camera closer and make sure no walls are in the way of the router? Umm you mean make sure the wall to my house isn't blocking the router, i guess they forget the camera is outside. I checked my WiFi looked at the connectivity rate and it was fine. One lady in customer service took all my information and they were going to send a new camera, than i got that email telling me to make sure a wall wasn't blocking my router. I brought the camera inside it worked better, but still skipped and didn't record the full 20 seconds. I get another email telling me they are waiting on a new firmware update because that is what is wrong with my camera, that was around October 7th, they still haven't contacted me about when this firmware update will happen that was a month ago. To Sum it camera worked great for 2.5 months it's in the same spot and now i have a 220 dollar camera that records 20 second of footage but only gives 14 or so seconds, so 90% of clips skip or the bird disappears. So it catches birds but i never get to see the whole clip. I will call again and hopefully get a new camera. The Company finally sent me another camera, but so far the new camera still skips. Waiting for an email back to fix it. I wrote this review weeks ago, it is now November 25th. After they sent me the new camera it slowly started skipping less and after about a month it started working properly, still never got a solid amswer to why it didn't work, It was NOT the WIFI. Camera catches a lot of birds I definitely enjoy it.

Neat addition to backyard. 2.4GHz only, which took some tinkering with my Verizon Internet which does not offer a separate 2.4GHz channel by default. Solar panel keeps camera fully charged when oriented properly. Bird ID is so-so.

Purchased a year ago. Don’t waste your money. My family loves to bird watch so I purchased this as a surprise. It worked great for about 6 months and then it lost connection. I called and get very little support. The answer was always, you need to move the feeder closer to your wireless router. I patiently explained that I had very good signal until one day I did not. Ocer the holiday, I had the chance to take the unit apart andb8 found the the problem. These are cheaply built. I found that the cable from the camera to the outer shell was made poorly. The red and black wire were reasonably long but the great data wire to the antenna was too short. It snapped at the base of the antenna. no way to reattach. It Was likely never quality checked. It worked for awhile and if normally movement due to wind it snapped. It was $250 when I purchased and last less than 6 months. Do yourself a favor and spend your money on something more durable
