The coating is a solid but comfortable to hold. I had tried weights with metal handles and found that I my wrists were complaining because they were too skinny. The first pair I ordered was pink on screen, magenta when received, and with several cosmetic blemishes in the neoprene. The second pair is in perfect condition and perfectly bubblegum pink. I noticed that the hand grip portion on each set was different in thickness. I figure the variations are due to different factories producing these.
