  • Would be almost perfect if not for the cheap keys
Color: Dark Grey
I got this today and overall seems like a great keyboard. Problem is, the cheap quality shows in the piano keys, especially C3 and the keys around it, but almost every key does the same thing; when you hit it fast and let go, it bounces in a very noisy way. If you're using headphones that's not a problem, but if not, the noise is really annoying. The funny thing is that my first keyboard is a $100 61 key Acorn, which was also made by Nektar and I bought it in 2014, and it doesn't have any of these problems. In fact, the keys on that one feel much better, this one feels like the keys have an urgent need to go back up as soon as you press them. But, it does feel more sturdy than the Acorn overall, except for the keys, and the pads and other features are really nice. Enough for me to request a replacement, so I'll post an update to see how's the new one. ... show more

  • It's good stuff but RIP not metal
Color: Dark Grey
Mine came with the B7 key improperly set in the key-bed, so sad. RIP to my heartfelt review, but decent af.

  • From 5 Stars To 3. There's No Way To Cover All The Good This Controller Is Capable Of
Color: Dark Grey
Update After about 2 years it starts playing the notes out of pitch Moving it from 5 to 3 stars Original Review Below Off the bat I had a little issue with Bitwig and the LX88+ integration (even the 8 Track) but once the support time emailed me that was that. Package came in mint condition thank God, everyting on it works perfectly. The keys though, black verses white velocity are not neutral, the black keys tend to play louder than the white ones with similar amounts of pressure, but I have the same issue with my Keystation (which I still love but not as much as the LX88+) and it has not stopped me from making music so no stars will be knocked off for that. The 8 drum pads are very very very sensitive if they were any more sensitive just looking at them would trigger a note and them being multi-colored surely doesn't hurt, but the main reason I wanted pads were to save the keys from the abuse of drumming, I just never expected them to be this great, Nektar deserves a sixth star 🌟 for that. I won't go too deep on the knobs and the slides or I'll be typing forever, I actually can't believe I was using my mouse to adjust my mixes for so long, the very very first time using sliders it was quite evident that I would never go back to mouse mixing ever again, I'd rather buy a backup Lx+ than to mouse mix, the same can be said for the knobs they make mixing a total joy. Though they are all plastic they don't feel cheap Nektar deserves a seventh star 🌟 for that. I am going to assume there is no note repeat on this device because I haven't seen any on it or in any of the reviews done for the LX88+ (so note repeat and even velocity response on black vs white keys would be things I need the most on the LX line) I haven't really taken advantage of LX88+ ability to adjust the Vsts I have but I haven't had this thing long enough to fully get to everything. This thing is not just a keyboard when you think about it, it's more like a universal remote for the studio. The reason I titled my review (There's No Way To Cover All The Good This Controller Is Capable of) is because as your abilities grow so does the keyboards functions reveal that it can perform tasks to make every process easier I was anxious to get my hands on my very own LX88+ and NEKTAR SURPASSED ALL MY EXPECTATIONS (even after watching tons of Youtube videos LX88 related) my expectations were still surpassed....... ... show more

  • Like most things in life, you get what you pay for...
Color: Dark Grey
For many producers on a budget who are looking for a fully featured 88-key MIDI/DAW controller for modern music production, the value proposition here is really strong. If the primary focus will be electronic music, drum programming, pop or even string arranging (where the mod wheel dictates the volume), then there's plenty to like here: good feeling rubbery sliders, knobs, pitch/mod wheel and drum pads along with useful DAW controls. I like the layout a lot. The physical construction feels a bit creaky though and it almost seems like you could rotate either end of the keyboard in opposite directions and easily crack the frame. Even so, once placed on a stand I noticed no wobbles or stability issues. So far, so good. My primary complaint is with the keyboard. Anyone looking for a high quality keybed with consistent and predictable velocity response for instruments like piano, harp or any other tuned percussion, I'd strongly recommend looking elsewhere. There's still no such thing as a free lunch in this area and good quality keybeds are expensive, which is where most manufacturers cut corners in the sub-$500 price range. The common complaint about a disparity in sensitivity between the black & white keys is still very much present here, so be prepared for groups of notes where some suddenly jump out at significantly higher volume and others are so quiet as to be nearly silent. The various velocity curve presets are mostly ineffective at compensating for this problem and even on the softest preset it’s still surprisingly easy to hit 127 velocity. I’m not hitting the keys that hard. And just to be clear, there was no expectation of weighted keys. This is a synth action and Nektar never tries to suggest it’s anything more than that. But, even when measured against the numerous other synth keybeds I’ve owned over the years, I’d rank this very low. For my needs, a big disappointment. For others, perhaps this could be the best full size budget keyboard on the market. ... show more
