The media could not be loaded. I normally don’t review products soon after purchasing, but this one HAD to be done! The first impression of this laser was WOW! Great packaging, quality components, easy assembly, and seamless integration with Lightburn. From the time I opened the box to my first burn was about an hour. I thought it would be much more difficult to figure out, but the NEJE wiki page made it super easy! Packaging -very good, I had no doubt it was in perfect shape when it arrived. I will say though, the extrusions are VERY sharp on the inside edge, and it wasn’t until after I cut my finger that I noticed there was a caution message engraved on the side of the extrusion warning against that… Take your time unboxing it! Assembly - a little more involved than the Max 3, but overall, not difficult. The main crossmember with the laser module was already assembled, so the only assembly were the 4 outside rails, belts, and tensioners. I’d rate assembly a 2 out of 5 for difficulty. Quality - The frame has solid crossmembers that connect the vertical extrusions that make it very sturdy. The anodizing was perfect, and unblemished. It came with the A40640 laser module, and so far has performed perfectly. This is my third NEJE laser, and I can’t complain about the quality of any of them! Lightburn – It connected perfectly with lightburn. I manually entered the machine settings (length/width), and it connected instantly without any issue. I did have a small issue figuring out the origin vs the home corner, but if I would have read the NEJE wiki page, that would have helped me out. The serving tray was the first burn I did, and it turned out perfect. I didn’t even use an air assist (only a small fan to blow smoke away) I’ve experienced the N40630 on my Max 3, and the A40640 module this came with is quite a bit more powerful. More power = faster cuts/engravings. Faster=Larger work areas and greater efficiency. Z-Axis & Cutting - This module also provides great cutting capabilities! Especially since the Z-Axis is adjustable and super easy to use. Lightburn provides a z-axis step after each pass, which changes the focal point so you can cut through much thicker materials. It was super easy to use and you’ll see in the video how it works. Future attachments – I recommend using an air assist if you’re planning to cut with it (I do not have one). NEJE also sells a honeycomb board that will also help with cutting through materials (I plan to purchase that next). I'm hearing NEJE will be coming out with expansion rails to increase the engraving area even more. It integrates well with 3rd party A-Axis (rotary) machines, although I did not try this function. This is a very solid machine. Nothing but quality and awesome new features. The Z-Axis control is why I bought this laser, and it did not disappoint. I can’t wait to utilize it more for upcoming projects! For the price of the laser, and the features it has, this is a great value. Might I also add that this is my third NEJE laser in about 4 years, and all of them are of excellent build quality and still working great. You won’t be disappointed with this laser. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I have purchased and worked with over 9 Diode and Co2 Burners. The last four have been from NEJE. Everything from their packaging - assembly - quality of materials, and burning capabilities are superior to all of the other vendor's machines that I have tried. My latest burner is the NEJE 4 Max. It has a motorized "Z" axis. Wow! What a great feature! Now I can program Lightburn to adjust the burner to the exact height needed for the perfect burn on the material of different thicknesses without ever touching the burner! I use Lightburn Software along with Inkscape, Print 3D, IrfanView, and a couple of others, to prepare and send code to my NEJE burners. I have included several burns that I have made with NEJE Burners. Below is a 25 second video showing the NEJE 4 Max's Z axis in motion.     • The instructions are useless and the Y axis belt tensioner assembly is terrible.

Roughly half of the steps required to assemble this machine are missing from the manual. And they are missing in such a way that you are unable to infer them from what they do send you. Additionally, the video that they link you to in the instruction manual is just as terrible. Missing steps, poor framing, etc. In terms of ease of assembly, the y-axis belt tensioners are difficult to assemble, and the cable positioning chain on the x-axis is very difficult to mount. It would not have taken any additional space for packaging to have the wiring and air tube loom ran through the positioning chain, something else that I would have expected to be done at this price point. I gave up at that point, because I've spent over an hour trying to assemble this and I need a break. All of that said, the build quality overall seems to be reasonably good. I just have no patience for a machine that costs this much to be so poorly documented. I will update this once I have the machine operating. NEJE if you need someone to write proper instructions and do a video that actually explains how to properly assemble your product, track me down. I left a comment on your YouTube video saying pretty much the same thing. ... show more

More than a year ago I had purchased the Max 3, before the Max 4 was released. I really found the z-axis interesting, so when Neje reached out and offered a discount to upgrade, I was happy for the opportunity. First, I'm really glad to see them selling direct on Amazon. That makes the purchase a whole lot more convenient (at least for me), though purchasing directly from that wasn't difficult, the shipping just took a little longer / I had to make sure it was in stock in my local region. We made a bunch of wooden covered notebooks for Christmas presents this year, and I was happy I could use the E80 module instead of the A40640 that came with the Max 3. I was able to do the cutting and engraving in half the time. As you can see from the stack, that time added up. I picked a diode laser over a CO2 for a few reasons. Cost was certainly one of them; however, I also liked the simpler setup (no chiller needed) and flexibility (totally possible to engrave larger items by moving the laser to the item). I'd quickly recommend this laser (as well as Neje in general) to anyone looking to start laser engraving / cutting. The setup is easy and straight forward, I've had no issues working with LightBurn, and - as evidenced by the Max 4 - they continue to improve on their design. ... show more

Over all quality is very good strong structure easy to assemble. Never could get it program to work right no instructions or tech support. I thank if they had some good instructions and technical support I would reorder it.
