Purchased the Neiko 10218A Countersink Drill Bit Set, M2 High Speed Steel, 1/4” Tri-Flat Shank | 1/4”-3/4”, 5 Piece Set with Carrying Case for general DIY use. The set arrived in an aluminum storage case. Even though the case is designed to hold the bits in a rubber-type padded insert, one of the bits came loose during shipping and it bounced around enough to dent the corner of the case. The case is still usable and there is no apparent damage to the bit. PROS • The 3-side bit shanks fit well and lock securely in all of our drill chucks. • Bits appear sharp but have not tested them on various materials. Little doubt they will work well in wood and soft aluminum….real test will be mild steel. • Good selection of sizes. CONS • Chucked each countersink bit in our commercial quality drill press (that has very little spindle runout) to check the wobble (runout) at the point of each bit. Two of the bits had very noticeable wobble. There is some question if we will be able to get a good quality countersink with those two bits. • Clasp on case is already loose so we don’t expect the case to last long. At least the hinges are holding together so far. Recommend you consider this product if you are interested in a low priced set for general use around the house (especially if you purchase the set during a Lightening Deal). Just don’t plan on using these bits where you need high accuracy countersinks. This product was not provided as a sample for this review, so none of these comments are influenced in any way by the seller. ... show more

Had these for two days before drilling hinge plate holes on steel doors, cutting out stripped screws, and drilling through 1/8" plate steel. They cut like crazy and haven't lost an edge. Very impressive little bits.

No you see, I can make a hole. Got plenty of drill bits for that. I need this hole right here to be bigger. Its right here. Yeah, you probably can't see it. because its so SMALL. I need to MAKE IT BIGGER. This is a dramatization of an event that has never happened. These things don't actually make your hole bigger. They don't even give you the illusion that the hole is bigger. I wanted to be honest in this day and age of penile enlargement products that will lie to you at 2am. These widen the head of the hold to accept the screwhead and make things nice and flush. But hey, if you are searching Amazon for "countersink drill bit" at 2am (and not that other product) then who am I to explain to you their purpose. You already know, but how do these work? They work well. Granted, I have been using them primarily in baltic birch and purebond ply, and some popular and now walnut (nothing to spike the Janka scale, mind you) but these carve their little pockets like diamond. I'm into these for a few months now, with... let's call it 600 countersinks and they are still producing clean, round sinkholes with no discernible tear-out and you get more tear-out in ply than you will a hardwood on this. So if its 2am where you are and you looking for a little more zing in your thing... and by that I mean flush joints and seamless screwpoints, then you could do a lot worse that these little beauties for the money. ... show more

Seem to be of good quality. Got them and used them on some 1/4'' thick metal and was happy with the results. No complaints. Cant speak about longevity as I have only used them once.
