    • Nice! Real, Real Nice!
These replaced my Harbor Freight set, one of which broke on me while I was drilling through a standard household electrical junction box of all things. There used to be a DeWalt Impact Ready step bit video on YouTube that showed them drilling through a quarter inch plate like it was nothing. I used one of these to drill through the steel frame on my pickup truck with a Bosch impact driver. I had to drill a couple large holes as I was installing a trailer hitch. I did pre-drill the holes per the installation instructions before using this. It cut that stuff effortlessly. I was amazed at how easy it went through. I've drilled frame steel before with regular drill bits and it ain't easy. It'll make you say "uncle" it's so hard. There are two things {at least for me} that would make the set better. The sizes are a bit difficult to read as they're not engraved very deep and a pouch to store them in would have been nice. I'm glad I have these and would buy them again without hesitation. ... show more

A sharp step drill is the hardest thing to find. These are nice step drills that are very sharp and make nice round holes. Kinda expensive but if you want something that will last, pay the extra money. I've had these for about 6 months.

    • Just make sure you know what you're drilling.
These are great for mild steel, but you'll want something harder for harder materials. I grabbed one of these drill bits and started drilling away at what I thought was a piece of scrap mild steel. First hole went fine. Second hole and the 3rd or 4th step up, the drill bit just stopped cutting. Rather than use common sense, I immediately took a brand new other brand name HSS cobalt drill bit and tried to continue the hole. That drill bit was dull within seconds. So the fact that these stepper bits lasted through one hole says something good about them. ... show more
