  • Good but not great
I think this is one of the times where the saying jack of all trades applies. If you know that saying, then you know what comes after that. Jack of all trades, master of none. This is good in many ways, but could be better. I think the idea of an all in one stand for all my devices intrigued, but after I got it, I realized there are better options individually for each of the things this handles. I think this would be a great fit for a teen that dreams about being a YouTuber or Twitch streamer. ... show more

  • Surprisingly sturdy even when it’s fully loaded
This stand is surprisingly sturdy even when I loaded it fully with camera gear. I want to note that I didn’t mount a laptop on this stand since I didn’t trust that it would hold the weight of it along with my other camera gear. I was able to mount to iPad okay at least. My suggestion is to set the arms first and make sure you like the positions before loading the gear onto them. The weight of the gear would make it difficult to adjust the positions after the fact. The mount works fine but I did have to over tighten the clamp a bit in order to make sure the stand is attached securely to the tabletop. If there's anything I would like to see improvement of this stand is I wish the clamp has a wider base so that it can attached securely to the table without over tightening it. ... show more

  • Neewer Quality, But Not Throughout, Plus It Has Some Issues
I’m a big fan of Neewer products and have a number of them. They always use quality materials and show good design qualities. I see high-quality materials in this desk mounted live broadcast stand. I also see subpar parts and inadequate design characteristics. Another reviewer nailed a lot of it, so I may be repeating some of what he said, but that’s because he and I observed the same things. First, the really good. The articulating horizontal arms are classic Neewer. They are super high-quality and my complaints are minor. First, their attachment is not padded which can lead to permanent marks on the vertical pole. Second, the tightness of the individual joints is widely variable, even in the same arm. Neewer does include Allen wrenches to adjust them to your desired friction loading, but you would think they would come universally the same tightness from the factory. The clamping base is most definitely heavy-duty. I would say it’s one of the best I’ve seen, and the aluminum pole that fits into it is pretty robust, too. However, as the other reviewer noted, any counterclockwise rotation on it from the arms and it too easily unscrews. It’s a minor but irritating issue. The aluminum tray they provide for your laptop is way too flexible. You can easily wobble it corner to corner with very large deviations. The mounting base on it is super robust and very hard to adjust. It may fit a 16” laptop but it wouldn’t fit my 17-1/2” laptop and I’m glad because I think it weighs more than the 4.4 lbs. max weight. Also, there’s a lot of flex in the pole when only a small amount of weight is applied. I measured significant flex at 1-1/2 lbs. That was at 15” not the full 20” extension of the long arms. I tried putting my 15” portable monitor in it, and it fits, but the side plugs for USB-C, display port, etc. are all blocked by the edge. The only way to use it would be to remove some of the vertical side support metal. Now for the big negative. Neewer includes a mic boom arm. Gee, it would have been nice if they didn’t buy the cheapest one painted white. At least black wouldn’t stick out like a sore thumb. Grey would have been best as the rest of the stand is grey. It has their name on it, but it’s not Neewer quality. Overall concerns – the stand has a lot of wobble to it. when you’re recording video, the last thing you want is a lot of wobble. The articulating arms are very robust, but the total weight they can carry is very minimal without creating large flexing and movement in the vertical support pole. Conclusion – will I still use it? Yes, I know it’s foibles, and I’ll try to work around them, but Neewer could have done so much better. Amazon Vine sent this product to me for an honest unbiased review. Would I recommend it? Yes, it does have a lot of quality to it, and I’ve pointed out the negatives, but overall, for most people, especially a newbie it’s probably a really good multi-use item. ... show more

  • Most of this rig is excellent and up to Neewer's standards. A couple things aren't.
There are plenty of great things about this desk mount and a few that aren't. First off, Neewer makes excellent photographic accessories and I have lots of them. This product is generally well designed and worthy of the Neewer name but it has a few shortcomings. The desk clamp is oversized and grips securely to the center column - both of which are up to the task they were intended for. The four Neewer arms that extended out from the center column are also well designed, sturdy and can easily hold the weight they were intended to hold. They have no problem holding a full-frame mirrorless camera, DSLR, panel light, etc. The white adjustable microphone extension arm is another story and even though Neewer had their name printed on it, it's obviously not an original Neewer product. It's not even close to the quality of the other components. They should be embarrassed to have included such a disappointingly cheap accessory. They should have designed their own. The other negative (mentioned by other reviewers too) is that the arms attached to the center column scratch up the center column at their attachment points. And, the top two sections of the center column have a tendency to unscrew if you rotate one of the arms in that direction. I can deal with the scratches and I'll be careful not to allow the column sections to loosen but I can't deal with the unreliable microphone extension which I won't use. ... show more
