  • Handy light, loved it and got a second
Style: 176 LED
I purchased a second one of these lights after using the first one for a couple of weeks. It's very handy, and I can adjust the brightness to suit whatever project I'm using it on. I already had batteries to fit it (from an old digital camera I used to have), but I also bought the power cord. I recommend getting that, even if you do have batteries, in case you need the light for an extended video shoot. You'll definitely need a tripod or some way to stabilize it as it will not stand on its own. Additional: I've had this light for exactly one year now and I still love it. Very convenient, small, portable. I use it primarily to light up my craft area and to shoot crafting videos. Two things to note: First, it doesn't come with a battery or a cord so if you're just getting started with videos and are looking at this light, you'll need to purchase the power separately. No power is included. Secondly, you'll definitely need a tripod (unless you're using it attached to a camera). It won't stand on its own (as I mentioned above). The light is quite bright, and I often have to tone it down to 50 (out of 99), but that's what makes it perfect for crafting. Forget the OttLights. This is cheaper (even with a tripod and power cord) and you'll get all the light you need for your intricate work. Light stays cool with no noticeable heat from it. It comes with a filter to soften the light, but it doesn't soften it much. Neewer also has a Collapsible Diffuser Mini Softbox, which does help, but it has Velcro straps that don't work very well. Depending on your need for a more diffuse light, you might have to look at some diffuser options. But if you just want a strong white light at a decent price, this is it. ... show more

  • 6 years Later still like brand new!!
Style: 176 LED
2017 to present day, thats a long time yet it's as if I just bought it! Portable and extremely bright! Love the fact that its dimmable too! I made sure to wait a long time to write this review because I had to test it myself. 1 battery lasts me hours before I would need the other. Like 4-5 hours while on shoots. Very reliable to help light dark situations or a set in an enclosed area. I orginally bought it based on the review from a trusted source on YouTube call "Think Media" they do tech reviews and gears on all levels of budgets hence why I had bought this! Great for video purposes also! Love that it came with one frosted transparent diffuser and the other in orange for colour temperature. Love that we have options of using batteries or using the AV plug in. Worth every penny. Highly recommend it. It helps to learn how to get the best look your going for by watching reviews or photographers or videographers on how they set it to get the results needed. ... show more

  • This is a great addition to my lighting collection because it is much ...
Style: 176 LED
I have a number of Neewer lights in this general size, specifically the -160 and the -216. This is a great addition to my lighting collection because it is much slimmer then both of those. It sacrifices the ability to put AA batteries in the back like the other two have if you run out of the Neewer batteries, but the Neewer batteries are actually quite cheap, and I have 6 of them, which is plenty to give me lighting all day. This light has the advantage of not only being slim, but it has an AC adapter plug in it as well. This makes a great back light or hair light if you have a studio set up. There aren't a whole lot of hanging options, you are pretty much regulated to the cold shoe, or a tripod mount, but it is so cheap that I am not afraid to make a few little modifications, if needed. Be aware that this light does not come with batteries, you will either need to purchase batteries or a power adapter to run it. Fortunately the batteries are not an obscure kind, they are of a common camera format. ... show more

  • Slim, lightweight and convenient to use
Style: 176 LED
This 176 LED light seems to address all the issues I have had with a Neewer CN160 light that I've been using for several years. On my 160 light it was frustrating to have the level control reset to zero each time the light is switched 0ff. In the 176 version, the light level is set independently of the On/Off function (although still shares the same switch). Hurrah! Furthermore the light level setting is shown on a 0-99 LED display, so repeatable light-levels are easy to achieve compared with the 160's unmarked control. Another improvement in the 176 is that the option is available to use A/C power (although a power supply is an extra cost item). Finally, the 176 is slimmed down and perhaps even a bit lighter than the 160...and still reasonable priced. The only loss in functionality I can note is the fact that now there is no battery-level indicator on the 176 model, so make sure to have a spare battery on hand. BTW, I'm using NPF-570 (2900 mAh) battery packs. When fully charged, this battery powered my Photo Studio 176 light continuously (at FULL power) for 2 hours. The light intensity remained quite constant all through the test (as measured by my digicam auto-exposure control). ... show more
