  • Simple, Reliable, and Effective
Model: PT-176S
I’ve been using the Neewer 176 LED Dimmable Panel on my camera rigs for a while now, and it’s been a dependable light that always gets the job done. I use it for interviews, fill light, and low-light shoots, and it consistently delivers clean, bright light without fuss. The dimming function is smooth, allowing me to adjust from soft to strong light depending on the scene. It’s compact and lightweight, making it easy to mount on top of my camera or on a small stand. The 1/4" thread fits standard setups perfectly, and the panel holds up well during long shoots without flicker or color issues. It’s very straightforward to use — just power it and dial in the brightness you need. My only note is that the battery isn’t included, so you’ll need a compatible NP-F type battery or external power source. Overall, this light is simple, effective, and reliable, exactly what I need for consistent lighting on location or in studio setups. ... show more

  • Handy light, loved it and got a second
Model: PT-176S
I purchased a second one of these lights after using the first one for a couple of weeks. It's very handy, and I can adjust the brightness to suit whatever project I'm using it on. I already had batteries to fit it (from an old digital camera I used to have), but I also bought the power cord. I recommend getting that, even if you do have batteries, in case you need the light for an extended video shoot. You'll definitely need a tripod or some way to stabilize it as it will not stand on its own. Additional: I've had this light for exactly one year now and I still love it. Very convenient, small, portable. I use it primarily to light up my craft area and to shoot crafting videos. Two things to note: First, it doesn't come with a battery or a cord so if you're just getting started with videos and are looking at this light, you'll need to purchase the power separately. No power is included. Secondly, you'll definitely need a tripod (unless you're using it attached to a camera). It won't stand on its own (as I mentioned above). The light is quite bright, and I often have to tone it down to 50 (out of 99), but that's what makes it perfect for crafting. Forget the OttLights. This is cheaper (even with a tripod and power cord) and you'll get all the light you need for your intricate work. Light stays cool with no noticeable heat from it. It comes with a filter to soften the light, but it doesn't soften it much. Neewer also has a Collapsible Diffuser Mini Softbox, which does help, but it has Velcro straps that don't work very well. Depending on your need for a more diffuse light, you might have to look at some diffuser options. But if you just want a strong white light at a decent price, this is it. ... show more

  • 6 years Later still like brand new!!
Model: PT-176S
2017 to present day, thats a long time yet it's as if I just bought it! Portable and extremely bright! Love the fact that its dimmable too! I made sure to wait a long time to write this review because I had to test it myself. 1 battery lasts me hours before I would need the other. Like 4-5 hours while on shoots. Very reliable to help light dark situations or a set in an enclosed area. I orginally bought it based on the review from a trusted source on YouTube call "Think Media" they do tech reviews and gears on all levels of budgets hence why I had bought this! Great for video purposes also! Love that it came with one frosted transparent diffuser and the other in orange for colour temperature. Love that we have options of using batteries or using the AV plug in. Worth every penny. Highly recommend it. It helps to learn how to get the best look your going for by watching reviews or photographers or videographers on how they set it to get the results needed. ... show more

  • Good light but not a complete kit- AC adapter no longer sold! (Size in review)
Model: PT-176S
To save you some searching, it’s a 5.5mm x 2.5mm barrel connector, center positive, 6.5-12v. The light is 11W so if you use a 12v plug you need At least a 1 Amp (1000mA) adapter, if you use a 9v plug then it needs to be 1.2A (1200mA), and a 7V would need to be 1.6A (1600mA). You can also grab a 7/32 drill bit and use that to see if you can find something in your box of old plugs that will work. Based on the very confusing description I (like many reviewers before me) assumes that this came with an AC adapter. I was happy with the light when it arrived for the price, but once I realized I had no way of powering it I quickly discovered that since this light is a bit older - Neweer no longer sells the AC adapter. This was compounded further since they do not mention the size needed anywhere in the manual, description, or website. The saving grace of the situation is that the power adapter is remarkably common and I was able to find one in an old box that lowers it fine. So if you already have an ac adapter than this is a great little light, if you don’t then I’d suggest you save yourself some hassle and buy something newer ... show more

  • Extremely Bright
Model: PT-176S
Intended for professional use, this is an excellent source of light when snapping pictures in low-light conditions where fill is needed to smooth out shady areas. This LED panel is stored in my camera bag for whenever it is needed. The panel has an on/off push-button on the rear and serves as a rheostat for adjusting brightness as shown on a digital readout screen from 10 to 99 percent. The LED panel can be mounted directly to a camera using an included cold shoe or can also be mounted on a tripod using the threaded 1/4x20 mount. Two slide-in lenses are included, one amber and the other clear. There are lots of options for powering the LED panel. It has a slot for the various Sony NP-F type batteries that serve widely for a variety of photographic equipment. I use the 2x5200mah batteries included with the Atomos Power Kit that powers my Shinobi view screen. These are equivalent to Sony NP-F750 rechargeable batteries and the kit also includes a charging unit. Neewer also sells their own batteries and there are AC adapters available that fit into the battery slot. There is also a DC power connector located on the rear panel for using a less expensive DC6.5v-17v power supply when batteries are not available. Several usable power supplies are available with some priced at Amazon for under $10. If an AC power outlet is not available, then a portable charging unit can also be connected. ... show more

  • Great light option for those on a budget. Great light option for those on a budget.
Model: PT-176S
After watching several reviews, I finally decided to get this light from Neewer. This thing is super bright and you could see the difference this light makes in the pictures and videos. The controls are easy to use and the light comes with a DC input so you can plug it in. This feature comes in very handy when you're using it for long periods of time. The package came with the white and orange diffuser, but no battery or charger - which is the only bummer. So I had to purchase the two-pack battery and charger from Neewer. But overall, this a great buy for its price and if you ever decide to upgrade later on, this would be great as a fill (which it was intended for), a head or back. I highly recommend this and I'll probably purchase a couple more. ... show more

  • Works most of the time.
Model: PT-176S
For the price you get a pretty decent LED light system that is variable. I like the controls and the use of the standard battery. The brightness goes from 10% to 100% and the light quality is very good. My only complaint is that it will randomly shut off some times. At first I thought it was something with the battery, but the batteries work fine on my other gear. It's just this light. Maybe it's a bad solder connection inside. It seems very temperamental about when it shuts off. If you fiddle with it, it sometimes will come back on. When it's on, it works great. ... show more
