As a photographer I like to play around with lighting. One of my favorite shots are Low-key lighting photos blacking everything else out. So I needed a decent over head light mount. Being homeowner sounds fun until you're worried about drilling everything, every where. So with this light stand I was able to do it all with out having to hang anything in my house and I can move to any room I want. While I feel the weight of the arm and stand, they're both within reasonable weight for non the go shoots. I was even able to have a set quick low-key light shoot at clients homes.

Solid hardware, in this price range!! To be clear this is a medium duty stand. However one of the more robust I've seen in this price point. I feel like NEEWER is really improving their product line. The last few things I have received from them, I have been super happy with the build quality, and I feel like they are listening to working professionals. The locking hardware is metal on this stand, and feels much more positive in it's hold, and feels like it can take a hit. the aluminum tubes are still of a lighter and hallow design, however this is expected at this price point. Solid steel costs significantly more. I would like to now, see more significant rivets, now that we have better locking hardware, but let's give credit where credit is due, this is a solid stand and boom kit for the money. They added a nice boom weight built in, as well as a nice sand bag, so over the top bonus. For an expensive stand, all this would be ala carte. I am so happy that NEEWER is listening and improving, they, at this moment, have overtaken SMALLRIG for my well priced fav, build quality wise, and might just approach GODOX quality if they keep this up. Although GODOX is more expensive. NEEWER is showing up, and laying it down. I can't thank them enough for the better locking hardware, now lets work on the leg spreaders and we will have a solid stand I can count on. I am super impressed with this boom. it's a complete starter boom kit, that will serve well, and you can put some confidence in. Always be aware of the weight limit, but I think this is one of the better stands at this price. Air cushioned as well, this will save your butt. Great job NEEWER keep up the good work.

This light stand, Neewer 9.8ft / 3m air-cushioned and with a boom arm, is a pretty solid stand. The thickness of the telescope elements is what you expect when a light stand is marketed as a heavy duty stand. The locks work smoothly and secure the elements tightly, and the air-cushion feature works as designed. Of course, the boom arm feature is my favorite, and it is quite adjustable -- the arm can be adjusted in a horizontal direction and allows to move the counterweight and sandbag further out for heavier gear at the other end. I installed a regular strobe light with a 32-inch octagon soft box and I got a nice stable result -- the 1kg counterweight is already a very good starting point for adding weight and the sang bag can be packed moderately. The air-cushioning worked nicely with this setup and weight. A max. payload of 11lbs. / 5kg seems very possible provided you balance and counterweight correctly. The quality of this light stand is very good given the balanced price level and having the boom arm lets you create interesting light setups, especially seeing that the max length of 9.8 ft / 3m allows for overhead scenarios. I am very happy with this stand -- it offers a strong and stable, versatile light stand at a good price level.

This light stand is everything you may be looking for to mount your lights. You get the tripod stand, the boom arm, a sandbag, and screw adapters. With this, you're set to mount any type of light regardless of the mounting connector that it uses thanks to the adapters. I mounted Neewer's CB60 RGB continuous video light on it, and it worked wonders. I wanted to get some good lighting for a top-down shot on a table. It's not complicated once you have the right gear, and I can tell you that this is the right gear. Of course, this is only part of the puzzle, and the other is that you'll want to know about how to light your subject, what settings to use on your camera, and what diffuser you may want to use. But what I can say is that it makes the puzzle easier to make in that sense. It makes production go better than I expected. Mind you, I'm a one-person band, so having good gear that's easy to use is critical.

I normally have a large fold out tripod base or c-stand for booms, depending on the weight and height I plan to use the lights at. However, both are close to impossible to travel with or transport easily. So i wanted to try a smaller lighter version for use in the field and with smaller lights and softboxes. This works perfectly in these scenarios. I not only use the counter weight supplied but I also eight the base down. This has worked well so far by the lake and in the park for my sessions. it is not a replacement for the heavy duty pro stands but it travels well.
