I have about three different lights that all seem to work really well with this pole. Its plenty sturdy enough and is built really well. I have a lot of Neewer products because they are affordable and work really well for people on a budget.

What I noticed when I unpacked the boom arm was how light it was compared to other boom arms that I've used before. This is not to say that the material or construction quality is inferior in any way. The hardware, despite the locking latches being plastic, feels sturdy and well-made. The weight of the boom arm becomes more apparent when you extend the arm all the way out and when I try to hold it by the two soft-grip sections. While the arm claims to have a load capacity of 11 lbs and I believe that the arm can hold that weight, I feel like it's going to be difficult to hold up the arm in a steady manner for a long period of time. Enters the included shoulder strap. The strap helps to stabilize the boom arm by distributing part of the counter-weight to the shoulder. However, I feel like you need two straps to go over both shoulders when you max the load on the boom arm. I will have to test the shoulder strap when I can load up the boom arm to its max weight capacity of 11 lbs and I'll report back with my findings. Another nice feature is the dual mounting angles of the adapter so there's plenty of flexibility in how you might mount the gear on the end of the boom arm. There are also plenty of adapters to help you mount a 1/4" screw, 3/8" screw, and 1/2" post along with a 5/8" screw mount for microphones. There are also other bits and pieces to help tighten the boom arm further if needed. If I come across anything else about this boom arm, I'll report back. If I had any disappointment it would be the fact that the boom arm is too long to fit in my Pelican case when fully collapsed. Other than that, I'm very happy with this so far.

This is a handy and versatile boom pole. It's a step up from the paint pole I've rigged up in the past for my assistants to use. The locking mechanisms seem pretty strong and there is a tightening tool to help adjust the tightness further, which is a worry with latch style closures like this. I like the other add-ons they include like the light stand adapter and the cable ties to help attach your cord to the boom. The shoulder strap is a nice addition too and helps support the stand when you have to hold it for long periods of time. I'm not sure if I would use it as a mic boom though, since it doesn't have a built in XLR cable like a true audio boom does, but it serves as a good backup to my existing audio boom pole. Couple bad points though. The bottom part of the boom was chipped off. It makes me wonder how well it will hold up over time. Probably shouldn't be too rough with it. It also had a bad smell when opening the case. Not sure what that is from, as I've never noticed a smell from this company before. So perhaps one of the materials used in this is giving off an odor. I think overall though it will be a good addition to my photo and video kit that can serve multiple purposes.

I'm not a professional photographer, but I have needed a little more than a typical "selfie stick" and this boom pole is awesome! It includes different sized screw-attachments, but I'm just using the regular camera-mount type (is that 1/4" or 3/8"?). I use a higher-quality phone mount for the video I'm doing with my iphone, and it screws on as easily as it would with a regular tripod. I've also used this to attach my Roland R-07 digital stereo audio recorder and will be trying a standard microphone with the boom pole later. The pole comes with a nylon carrying bag, screw adapters, velcro bands and a strap. Collapsed and in the bag it is very portable - I can toss it in the back seat of my car with no concerns. If you do any kind of photography, lighting for photography, or audio recording/sampling where a 7-foot+ boom would be useful, this is a versatile and inexpensive option.
