  • An Optical Boost for Your Amateur Astronomer
This NEEWER 3X Barlow lens comes with solid optics and quality machining. For the price, this is a fantastic option. The threading for cameras is also a great feature, although I haven't taken much advantage of it yet. That brings me to my next point. The additional magnification on this means it is quite helpful to have a motorized telescope that will track your object for you. I don't have one myself, so you really have to be quick about what you are hoping to see or it will escape your field of view before you know it. With that said, my son loves to just explore the night sky and see what he can find. The light transmittance of the lens is also a plus considering we live in a light-polluted city. Even driving some distance out of town means the sky glow from the city can affect the image quality. Overall, this was a great addition to my telescope, giving it that much more bang for my buck when out gazing at the stars with my kiddos. ... show more

  • Good
Good budget barlow lens. With barlows you definitely get what you pay for, but this is a good budget option

  • Neewer Does It Again With Great Optics At A Low Price
I’ve recently had the opportunity to test a wide range of economy eyepieces, nearly a couple dozen in all. Of all my testing of multiple brands, Neewer rose to the top as providing the best view at a very low price. This Barlow lens is no exception, providing crisp clear views of the heavens as long as your eyepiece is of equal or better quality. This Barlow is a notch up from the 2X Barlow included in the Neewer 14-piece eyepiece and filter kit, with the nice little addition of a rubber grip ring on the body. Like the 2X kit Barlow, this 3X also uses a brass compression ring to hold your eyepiece in place without scratching it — another top quality feature. If it says Neewer on it, buy with confidence. Recommended! ... show more

If you see this review on a different item, then there are either multiple item options, or the listed item was changed. • Better quality than my other 3X Barlow.
Review of NEEWER 3X Barlow Len for 1.25" Telescope Eyepiece, Multi Coated Triple Magnification Telescope Lens Access The Neewer camera and telescope accessories are very good. This is a fully metal body with coated optics Barlow. The special touches are nice too such as the inner screw protection sleeve, my telescope doesn’t even have that. I usually don’t lock down my lens in a Barlow anyway. I usually slip the lens into the star diagonal (without tightening the screw) and line up the object at lower magnification/wider field then slip it out, slip in the Barlow and observe the object at 3x the magnification. The benefit of not locking it down is time. You need to move quick with astronomical observations at high magnification or we will turn out of field because of the earth’s rotation and you will have to try and find the object again. By not locking down the lens or the Barlow you can quickly go from one view to the next. If you scope has motorized tracking then it doesn’t matter and you can lock them both down. This is a nice quality 3X Barlow. It’s best used with wide field eyepieces like a 20mm or higher. It is easy to exceed your telescope’s theoretical magnification limit using a 3X Barlow. For example the maximum limit of a 90mm aperture scope is 180x (2x the aperture). If your scope has a 700mm focal length and a 90mm aperture the 3x Barlow would give the following: • 700mm/25mm = 28x magnification, with the Barlow = 28x3 = 84x magnification • 700mm/10mm =70x magnification, with the Barlow = 70x3 = 210x magnification Note that the smaller mm eyepiece exceeds the 180x magnification with the 3x Barlow. But it’s great with the 25mm eyepiece. Very nice Barlow. I can recommend this. ... show more

  • A solid choice for a Barlow lens.
Having a good experience so far. The metal body is nicely machined and built. The optics are clear and function as well as others I’ve used. Like all telescopes and accessories, when using outside, give it time to acclimate to the current temperature and conditions. The colors are accurate and the images are crisp. It seems pretty durable. Even so, I put this and other accessories in a HF Apache case for transport to keep them safe and protected. It’s always good to have a 3x handy. I’ve had good success with multiple items from this brand so I feel confident in the long term reliability of this lens as a result. If you have super expensive gear and only the best will do, this could be the weakest link for you. However, for most hobbyist and weekend astronomers, this is a great option. ... show more

  • Good value
A Barlow is a tremendously useful accessory. Most telescope owners could meet all their viewing needs with two good quality eyepieces and a 2x or 3X barlow. A Barlow also allows you to take advantage of the greater eye relief of longer focal length eyepieces while still getting high magnification. Unfortunately, they’ve been given a bad name by all the cheap plastic barlows that come with cheap department store telescopes. This unit, however, is not one of those. It’s all metal, and the optical quality is good. I tested it with one of my small reflectors using a couple of inexpensive plossl eyepieces and didn’t see any obvious aberrations of secondary color. A good choice to go with a medium priced telescope like a 6” or 8” Dobsonian. ... show more
