After using this to blind any living thing in range, you might not be able to see much yourself until your eyes get use to the dark again. There are brighter lights out there, but I don't think anything brighter than this would be particularly useful for the average person. This light is not for fine detailed work like putting on shoes at a campsite or reading signs at night... this is more useful for illuminating a small field and ensuring nothing unpleasant is lerking in it.
