My daughter needed a GPS so she wouldn't be messing with her phone while she drives. This is good because it also will not use her data. So far it seems okay to use but instructions are lacking. She has not gone very far with using this yet but should do its job okay.

I've owned quite a few GPS units throughout the years. I'm a Realtor and bought my first one in 2006. Since then, I have been through all of the big name brands, and this one beats them all. You will not find a better GPS especially this size for anywhere near the money. I couldn't be happier!

    • Decent basic GPS device - horrible instructions

This is a decent basic automotive GPS device. But the instruction book with it's chinglish instructions is pretty much useless. Fortunately, the basic functions are fairly easy to use if you are familiar with GPS devices. And don't look to their dated web page for any help - it's full of broken links and errors. You can't even download the "free maps" - trying to download one results in a "source file could not be read" error. Not that it matters anyway; the map downloads you can't download are in ZIP format with no instructions on how to install it to the device. (Safety advice: always always be wary about downloading and running ZIP files from unfamiliar sources on your computer) And their generic Outlook.com email address does not inspire a lot of confidence as to how responsive this no name manufacturer will be. So, about the only positive thing I can say about this device is "it seems to work". Otherwise, you're on your own baby! The mounting bracket is tricky to install - again, don't look to the instruction book for help. Just examine the bracket to find the locking tabs; locking the bracket to the display requires a bit more force than I felt comfortable using on the display but use some force and maneuver it a bit and it will snap into place. The first time I turned in on, it took a bit over 10 minutes to acquire a satellite. At about the 10 minute point, I was ready to pack it up and return it. But it did finally acquire the satellite and on subsequent uses it does acquire the satellite quickly - 15 seconds or less. And since you can't download map updates from their web site, it's a good thing that the installed map seems fairly accurate - although I haven't used it out of town yet. Since I was unable to ascertain the date of the installed map, and because you can't download updates, I am leery of how accurate the map is. And I'm still trying to figure out what the small weird unmarked hole on the side marked "256mb" is for. And an unmarked slot that looks like it's for a memory card - but, again, nothing in the instructions about what it's for or how to use it. My advice: bypass this one (even though it's cheap) and look for a decent name brand device with an established company that keeps their web pages up to date. I definitely would not trust this to guide me through an unfamiliar area. ... show more

This screen is nice sized and graphics are very clear. Touch screen is fairly easy to use. The one thing that I have found interesting is how long it takes for the GPS signal to be located. It is best to input your destination and let it located before you start moving, otherwise it seems to take longer. ... show more

I saw that it would accept SD cards, so I assumed it would load the info. I put in my SD card for Costa Rica, and I can find no way to get the info to load. There is NOTHING in the instructions (for which I needed the strongest glasses AND a strong magnifying glass to read them) about loading other locations. The manual says to contact them with any questions, but lists NO phone number or email address. I used it in the states, and there was a learning curve for sure. It does not find places, but does much better if you have an actual address to use. But I bought this to use in Costa Rica, and it is worthless to me here. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. this GPS screen was purchased for retired father as he has been traveling all over as of late. He prefers a larger mounted device rather than a smartphone and this particular item is quite user friendly. The initial set up and go along with the mounting went along rather easily and the instructions provided were step by step and simple to follow along on. The actual functions of this device preform well. The screen is intuitive and without delay. The features are pretty easy to figure out once you really get it going.
