  • Assembles Just Fine; Make Sure Your Equipment is Not Deeper Than the Rack
I don't understand why all the negative comments about it being difficult to assemble. It's a box. If you understand what a rack mount cabinet is for, it's not that big a deal. My son and I assembled it in about 45 minutes start to finish. Unless you have no mechanical ability and don't own a screwdriver, it's not difficult. The most important thing is to make sure your equipment is not deeper than the rack. I learned this little tidbit the hard way, and that's why I'm using the rack right now without the back installed. Live and learn. I would say it's not robust enough for heavy-duty industrial use, but it looks good and works just fine for home or small business use. The fact that the rails are not threaded is not significant as far as I am concerned. Using a nut where you need to place the screws is easy enough, and you don't have to worry about stripping the threads. All in all a reasonable price for its intended purpose. ... show more

  • Awesome rack!
This server rack was the absolute perfect size and type I was looking for. Fits perfectly in my location. Sturdy design and nice looking. Note that glass door is clear, not the tinted color it appears to be in the pictures. Read the instructions very carefully when assembling to avoid having to rework as it is easy to assemble it incorrectly. I am using it as an audio equipment rack and it fits that bill perfectly. Great product, I have no complaints at all. ... show more

  • Decent rack, metal is thin, instructions lacking. See my comments.
For the price point this seems like a good rack. Everyone is right. The instructions suck. The pictures are so tiny you can't really see how things are oriented. A little guess work and it goes together. Took me an hour to build with nothing more than a Phillips screw driver and the included Allen wrench. I'm attaching pictures to help you see the assembled items. These alone should cut out most of your guess work. Note that the two large square c-challen frame pieces will be oriented to where the slots for the locks are closest to the outside. They're the front and back of the unit. The cross pieces that hold the vertical rack mount rails will be bolted through at the same time as the top and bottom. Basically you set the bottom on the ground, place the two square frames in, and the place the left and right brackets in. Then bolt together. Allen bolt from the bottom up, nut on the inside of the rack. Then install the top, turn the unit on its side, place the inside brackets in place and bolt the top to the frame and to the brackets all at once. *** Wheels go on last!!!! Metal is thin and easy to straighten by hand if bent. Glass is clear NOT tinted. Fans are fairly loud. Not a problem in a networking closet or server room. Probably annoying out in the open around people. In my images ive already installed a sliding rack tray. It's not included with this item. Also is a UPS that is too big for this rack (cyber power 2u is too deep). I'm pointing to the slot for the lock in one image. That goes on the outside for the front and back. ... show more

  • very forward heavy
I chose this form factor mainly because of 3 reasons: - it is smaller unit (fits in my closet) - has casters (wheels) - is fully enclosed with glass face It hits those marks just fine. I am giving it 3 stars mainly for one reason, and one that surprised me. It is not very stable! If you have kids, be careful. If they hang on to the front it will topple over them easily. When I was working on it, I set a 2U backup battery on top. I was screwing another 1U device in and the whole thing (battery and all) nearly fell on my head. I was considering different configurations in the rack to balance the weight but it is just so forward heavy. I think the placement of the front casters needs to be looked at. For me, I’ve decided to live with this since I don’t have kids and it stays in the closet. But I will have to consider my options if that changes. Other than that, everything is fine. It is louder than I expected, (about 65-70 db up close and 50-55 behind closet sliding door). But hey, the cooling is actually nice so I am ok with that. But you probably don’t want this out in the open with the fans hooked up. ... show more

  • Great instructions, very well built, very well packaged
Not sure what other reviews were talking about with the poor instructions. The instructions I got were very thorough, accurate and everything worked perfectly. Each piece of hardware is labeled in its separate bag. The unit itself is very well built - heavy metal - and all the alignments were perfect. I am very happy with this. Whatever those old reviews were talking about are no longer the case. The one tiny downside is the fan noise. I had to turn them off and are looking for replacement units - any recommendations on a specific fan? The manufacturer said 5" in size with 4.5" screw holes, but that doesn't match normal computer fan size (140mm is the closest thing). But yeah the noise of the fans is too loud for an office or open area if the rack is sitting out and not hidden in a closet. Not a big enough negative though to deduct stars. Great quality unit at a great price. ... show more
