White Willow Bark is the outer shell of the Willow tree and has been used for centuries. I don't use any pain reliever often, but when I do, I like to use the White Willow Bark. It has similar healing properties as Aspirin, but for me, it doesn't cause me any stomach problems. I have digestive problems so I am very careful about what I take. White Willow Bark does take longer to start working, but the effect lasts longer for me than aspirin. This also doesn't keep me awake at night like aspirin used to do to me. I can take it and still sleep. Make sure you drink plenty of water when you take it. Just like any other medication. Some of the things I use it for are Headache Inflamation Sore Muscles Backache Colds and flu (helps when I am running a fever) It can be used for other aches and pains... Just like aspirin is used. I have been taking white willow bark for over 8 years now. I don't miss aspirin or any other pain reliever. This is all I use. ... show more

You are supposed to take 2 capsules 2 times a day and they are VERY difficult to get down. I can feel it the entire time it is traveling down my esophagus and I am on the verge of vomiting when that is occurring. I take a large multivitamin and a large gelcap of pumpkin seed oil every day with no problem, and this is actually smaller than they are. As for pain relief, I have not taken it long enough to report on that. UPDATE - tried to swallow one again today and it got stuck again, so I made a cup of tea and opened the other capsule into it. It was meh, but better than getting my esophagus scraped while trying to hold down breakfast. As for pain relief, this is the 3rd day I've taken it and I notice a substantial difference in the amount of pain my torn meniscus is causing. I was very skeptical, but within 20 minutes of taking the prescribed dosage the pain was gone. I broke 6 ribs and had been taking Ibuprofen but it really bothers my stomach. I was glad the willow bark is so effective, with no side effects.

I took two of these willow bark capsules twice daily with food for ten days. I noticed zero change in the pain in my arthritic elbow and shoulder. This particular brand and bottle is a great price and I did not have any side effects whatsoever. So those are positives. It just isn’t effective for pain management for me. It may work for others. I am going to try a different product that specifically says “white willow” and is standardized for its salicin content. There sure is a lot of research and data out there on reputable sites that says white willow bark can be effective for pain management so I am hopeful I will find the right product as I’d like to get away from mainstream OTC pain killers. ... show more
