  • Everything you need!
If you're looking at this product, I'm assuming you know what it's for, and I'm assuming you know that you'll need a DAW to utilize this product. There is a more expensive upgrade to this, but I promise you really don't need it. There are so many effects, samples and instruments in this thing that if you're not the type of person who leaves things to presets, you have a truly infinite amount of sounds; especially if you already have a suite with some other effects. My favorite thing about this package is how real the guitars and bass guitars sound. We've had realistic drum sounds before, but this is the only set I've got a convincing guitar/bass sound from! You would never know it was MIDI! If you want to get serious about producing your own instrumentals, this is THE package! PS, I'm sure you'll want to expand on your library at some point. Native Instruments offers all of their instruments as standalone products. Some of them are up there in price (299) but quite a few are only 49 bucks, some are 99. That's really not that bad for what you get! ... show more

  • Great product, terrible customer support
After using the elements versions of several of their synths I decided to step up and get the full versions by buying Komplete. Their virtual synths sound fantastic. I looked around to find the best deal I could and came across new unregistered Komplete 7 at a substantial discount to version 9. After comparing, it turned out that the synths were the exact same versions in both 7 and 9, so I bought version 7. Part of Komplete 7 is that you get a $60 voucher for their online store to buy additional synths or effects, when you register upon installation. It is written right on the outside of the box. I contacted support to get my voucher and they responded that since version 9 is the current version, version 7 is discontinued and they will not honor the voucher. They offered me a $25 voucher instead of the $60 I was supposed to get. Nowhere on the box or on their website does it claim the $60 offer is time limited or invalid when a new version comes out. When I pointed this out they just repeated 7 is discontinued and we won't generate vouchers for it and the $25 voucher is a courtesy. So buy it if you know the product you are getting and are happy with the price. I did and don't regret it. Don't expect them to honor their obligations or act like a company that cares about their customers. I was planning on buying the upgrade to version 10 when it comes out, but it will have to be truly groundbreaking for them to get another dollar from me. ... show more

  • does not include Sax, Violin, Brass, not the "complete" deal. It's Okay though, many different sounds.
I spent like $500 for this "Komplete" kit of V.I. sounds. I really wanted to create some cool sounds that include instruments like Violins and Saxohphones. Well, it doesn't have either! They tout about how it has every sound you could possibly want! Where are the friggin' saxohpones? Oh I can get them, but I have to purchase them separately. for $500 I think they would include brass, woodwinds etc. They also include like 6 different pianos (which to me sound essentially the same). I would rather have 1 piano and some trumpets. The "stringed" instruments are a complete set. No ability to just play cello, or just play violin. When you hit a key, it plays an ensemble. Even garageband for iPad has greater flexibility with respects to this. Also, many of the other vi instruments seem almost too confusing and only hours upon hours of tweeking will you begin to understand the power of this software. I am not there yet, but I'm working on it. It's okay, but they really should include a lot more for $500. Especially a woodwind/brass section. That's like the first thing people want when it comes to V.I.'s. Seriously! ... show more

  • Monark alone is worth it
I dislike how Native Instruments comes out with upgrades all the time. That being said...Monark alone is worth the upgrade. Haven't gotten to mess around with Battery 4 extensively, but so far I prefer it over Battery 3. The Giant is an interesting VSTi...something like a weird brother to a grand piano. The new strings aren't bad. They're on par with what I already have sound-wise on strings, but what I have is only mid-level. Haven't used any of the Solid Mix Series, so can't really say much about it. Would've given it 5 stars if NI would come out with more significant releases. More stuff or more important additions ... show more

  • Komplete 9 Instrument software
Bought this software instruments program about 3 months ago. The discs would not load properly and spent considerable effort having to go back to the place of purchase to get them loaded. I found that the sounds themselves are not that easy to locate and had to pay someone to teach me how to use them. Each sound uses a lot of memory and took a fair time to load into my Cubase program. I had recently purchased a midi keyboard and thought one of the keys was faulty till realising it was a piano sound on Kontakt which was not as it should be. There may be other sounds in Komplete 9 which are faulty. Not really that impressed with the sounds themselves and wish I had bought Sampletank instead. I am not happy with this software and really regret buying it. ... show more

  • If you're on the fence, don't be.
I was on the fence about Komplete for years and years, across multiple versions. I finally bit the bullet and picked up 9. Now I wish I'd done it sooner, and picked up Ultimate while I was at it! Each of the individual components have their uses (though Absynth, which I was most interested in, has been replaced in my toolbox by Camel Audio Alchemy -- seriously, check it out, it's amazing), and some of the included samples are nutty. The Giant piano sample pack for Kontakt, in particular, is stupid good, albeit one that should only be used where it's appropriate. There's so much good content here, and buying each synth or effect individually would cost you some ridiculous amount more, so just stop reading this junk and buy it. NI's stuff just sounds good, and working with it instead of whatever default stuff your DAW may provide (like, Logic has a huge content library) means you're not locked into your DAW. ... show more
