When the children got this present, they were very pleased and excited to dig up all of the gems and see which ones they got. And kept them busy for a long period of time. But, keep in mind though, it gets very messy when younger children try to dig and play with this. But, we managed to just clean it all up by placing old newspapers under the area that they wanted to dig in. Overall, I think this was very engaging for the kids by keeping them occupied and searching for which gems they got. They even got to learn some new stuff about the gems in the little booklet that comes with it.

My son was absolutely thrilled to get a Dig kit with real gemstones. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised by the size of them. We loved that they come with a little storage bottle too, though he dislikes how huge the cork is and I wish it wasn't plastic. My one big complaint is that all the stones were in one tiny area in the middle. He had 8 out when I took the picture with 2 more visible. He loved it regardless, but it didn't take him long to do.

I got this for my 10 year old grandson, who is showing an interest in gemstones and Geology. He was very happy with it. It comes with 10-12 gemstones buried in a small landscape that is included. Also has tools, safety glasses and instructions on excavating the stones. Comes with a book to identify the stones. Educational and fun.

We’ve gotten a few of these. My kid requested one for Christmas this year and I’m going to make sure he gets them more often. They are always good messy fun. They always have as many rocks/gems/fossils as they say they are supposed to. The kids have a ton of fun diggings for them and enjoy keeping their treasures. If your kid likes the shiny stuff , they’ll love it.

I was worried at first but my 6yr old niece enjoyed doing this activity so much! She was already asking me to look up other versions of this.. My mom told my even younger cousin about it and now she wants to do one of these. My 6yr old niece didn't have too hard of a time, I had to help her but we also sprayed it with water here and there to soften it and keep the dust down. We had a tiny spray bottle that we used from a terrarium kit we made prior to this. We collected all 15 gemstones! I suggest doing this outside and to make things even easier for clean up, use a disposable deep dish baking container.
