What a neat set! I almost got one for myself. I got this as a gift for my 11 year old niece and she loves it. Her mom and her will spend a day bonding together and doing crafts.

My toddler liked playing with this set. I liked that it had everything a beginner might need. It comes with two blocks of clay, which is plenty for a fun filled activity. We made a spoon and some clay shapes just to try it out. It was fun decorating them with crushed rocks and paint. Great activity for kids. This would also make a great gift.

I’m taking a ceramics class and was excited to see that I could get a lot of the tools that we use in class for home use with this set. It even comes with 2lbs of air dry clay! But yeah, it has a sponge, most of the tools you would want, a string cutter, stamps that will release the little pieces, paints, semi precious stones, and texture-making things (the word is escaping me at the moment). It’s obvious that this kit is for kids and not adults (clear string instead of wire, no very pointy metal end on any of the tools). My only real complaint or note is that the first time I opened it and closed it, there were two little clear plastic tubes that go on the ends of the brushes that had fallen off and ended up underneath the pull out tray. I never would’ve found them if it hadn’t been for my cat chewing on them— those are a choking hazard (as are many of the things in here) so make sure that clean up is thorough if you’ve got littler ones/pets.

Yes, it says it an expansion pack but I thought it came with the wheel. However, I did try it out and it was enjoyable it come everything need to create a few bowls. If you someone that is a crafter and have pottery wheel, recommend.

Pretty good kit, even if you do not own the original set like me. You get a brayer (roller) which is primarily why I got this kit, plus a bunch of other accoutrements to use with clay making. The circular white things in the picture are cutters, like a cookie cutter, only they are spring loaded. When you push them into your clay, the spring load will push out your shape for you. Pretty handy. All of those work well except for one. ONe of them, the spring gets stuck and doesn't retract well on its own. A flick with your finger gets it unstuck. I like the clay shaping/molding tools too. The felt tip pens are junk. Do not specifically buy this kit bcz they are included. The clay, sponge and paint dish are all great. Overall, I am happy with this set.

I've gotten some of the NatGeo kits for my kid before. This kit is meant to use with the NatGeo pottery wheel. We don't have that, but it's still possible to use this kit without it. My kid wanted to try out messing around with clay recently. We didn't have any of the tools or anything - just clay. That got a bit frustrating for him. I got this pottery wheel expansion kit because it came with all the tools and decorative accessories. I thought it might make it easier to play around. The clay feels like great quality compared to the Crayola air-dry clay we have on hand. The tools are perfect for working with the air-dry clay. He made his first little pot with the gems and making faces in the bottom. He said it's pretty easy to work with and the tools are useful. They seem to be solid enough for playing around.
