This was the first project my 8 year old grandson tried from his birthday stash. He loved that he could decorate a canvas bag that he could use for his stuff. Project was fairly easy but hardest part was isolating the part of the template he wanted to print on his bag. It would be better if each object had a separate template. Also clean up was a little difficult. But he still had a lot of fun and enjoyed trying this new craft!

This was a quick and easy way to make a tee shirt. The contents are fabric paint and stencils so if you want something more detailed, you want another option.

This "NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC Kids Screen Printing Kit - Arts and Crafts Silk Screen Printing Kit with Fabric Paint, Frame, Stencils & Squeegee Plus Canvas Backpack & More, Screen Print, Silkscreening Kit" is so much fun, and it is definitely something different. It got everything you need to start, yet it can go so much further. It comes with "a bag" for your to print on, but you can easily grab any t-shirt and go at it. The amount of paint you got, you can do quite a bit of "printing". This is an awesome kit for some family fun, or even as a birthday party activity. One kit can be use for quite a few kids, while a couple of them is probably sufficient for a larger party. National Geographic did a great job putting together this kit. The instructions and educational materials are clear and great, step-by-steps, rather than just a random box of supplies. I love the fact that the instructions are not just instructions but more like some reading materials with backgrounds and such; you get a much better experience in this kit, than just getting some arts and crafts supplies. Kids around 8 or 9 and above can enjoy this with their family; while young teenagers can probalby just grab this kit and run with it. This kit is certainly good as gifts for all different occassions. I got this kit for a 9 year old. She absolutely loves art projects and being able to make things. Typically I have done Diamond paintings or clay. I was not sure how the paint would go over, but I wanted something different. She really enjoyed the project. She has a hard time concentrating for long periods of time, but this was something that took just long enough for her to have fun and not get bored. She liked the variety of designs on the stencils, but they were all on 5 sheets so relatively small which made for some interesting end results. She still had a lot of fun and now wants to move on to t-shirts!

I love kits like this because it gives kids an opportunity to try something new. This is really cool and allows my kids to be creative and learn a new skill. One never knows when their child will find their passion. I like to give my kids the opportunity to try new things, so they can find what they love. This can be an expensive process! I appreciate small kits like this one from National Geographic. It’s not too much money or stuff, but it gives my kids a good idea of the process. Overall I think this is a great gift idea, just a little simple once the kids got into it.
