  • More difficult to adjust the length than I expected, but works great
I bought two for underneath the kitchen cabinets, one for one side of the kitchen, and one for the other. This was after buying some LED lights that didn't have the two additional whites, which meant I could not get an even remotely decent white light. Anyway, these let me choose the right color of white for the right time of day. The tricky part came when cutting the strips and adding connectors and extensions. I picked up the recommended third-party extensions and connectors because I needed to span the space under the over-the-stove microwave. The connectors were persnickety. I had to cut the LED strips very precisely, position the connectors just right, and then make sure the strips kept going the right direction after adding the connectors and extensions. In the end, it worked beautifully. The Apple Home app offers simple controls of color and brightness, and Siri knows what to do when told to turn the lights on or off. In all, I'm very happy with the Nanoleaf LED strips, even though the connectors were a bit of work. ... show more

  • A nice concept. Iffy execution.
I first bought a set in early 2022. after nearly a year of use, here are the pros and cons. Pros: - Devices do fit nicely in the Apple Home app. - Price. Compared to equivalent competitor devices, this is about half the cost. But, as you will read in the "Cons" section, you may understand why. (Hint: the competitor is more reliable and consistent.) - A lot (I mean a *LOT*) of scenery choices. Many are from non-professionals so expect that. Cons: - Using it with Bluetooth, only, makes it sporadic when it comes to reliable execution of any automations. Get an Alexa or other Thread network device (I use eero.) - Using a Thread network, it can only seem to control a handful of devices with *some* consistency. If you try to load it up with many units, expect frustration when the automations do not do what you expect. - The previous statement, notwithstanding, even a handful of devices work consistently and reliably for a longer period of time before it loses sync or comms or whatever is does. - It can take a while for a device to respond in the Apple Home app. - The user interface can be confusing. Other: - If a device loses its comms, resetting it requires going to Nanoleaf and getting a reset procedure from them (or other sites which copied from Nanoleaf.). Write it down. You will need it. Resetting bulbs is different than resetting light strips. ... show more

  • Best non-Hue smart lights
So I want to start off and say I have had a bunch of LED strips, I started with the Cync by GE light strips that kept disconnecting and we’re super unreliable, I replaced those with some Govee light strips that were cheap and reliable but they were dim, didn’t have real white LEDs, and were slow to respond. I have hue bulbs all over my house but the Hue light strips are just too expensive. I have an Apple TV 4K to control these lights over Thread, and these lights are just as responsive and reliable as my Phillips Hue bulbs for a lot less money. They are really bright, the box said each strip is 2200 lumens. The colors are also very vibrant but not as bright as the white. The white is also adjustable from a warm tungsten white to a cool daylight, they can also change with the time of day through homekit. So automatically during the day they will be daylight balanced, and at knight they will turn warmer and reduce their blue light output. Homekit integration was super easy, just Sven the weather code in the package or the code printed on the bottom of the controller. They are very well built, the actual hardware feels premium, and they are really sticky. My complaints would be that they are short so you will need a lot of them. Also the cable from the strip to the controller is short also it is flat and stiff making it a little tricky to hide the controller box if you need to. Anyways I would highly recommend these lights, they were easy to set up, cheaper than the hue light strips, far more reliable than the Cync light strips, and are brighter than the Govee light strips with real white LEDs unlike the govees. ... show more

  • Can't update Firmware
Can't update to 1.6.41 Works super fast with Siri / Homekit, but will not work with homekit accessories like a remote control. Figured the update would fix this.

  • Easy to install and a lot of fun.
I first used these to replace old fluorescent under cabinet lighting in my kitchen. I found some mods so I could cut them and extend them to make it around the cabinets. I didn’t have any prior experience with led lighting. So customizing them is very doable. I am now adding them under the toe kicks in the bathrooms for night lighting. ... show more

  • Easy enough to set up
Very easy to set up, just don’t stick it to anything until after you set it up with the app. The code is on the back of the box that gets stuck up the wall and you may want to know that before you install. Not many instructions with this so I learned that the hard way and re-sticking it is . . . Well less desirable. ... show more

  • Not great Alexa integration. Best option for whites.
I bought this as the only option for good white light strips with automation integration. On that front, it did not dissapoint - very bright in the whites. But the automation integration needs work. Was unsuccessful at getting it to work with Alexa, even after loading up the skill - couldn't find the lights. But I have a Google home mini and found them immediately and integrated right in on that. So now I just need to remember to yell 'Hey Google" instead of "Alexa" when I want to adjust the lights. Won't be ideal as I add more lights too. Hoping they work out some bugs there and get it working with Alexa soon. The strip is short compared to others, but the brightness hits the spot for my application. ... show more
