Retro-style keyboards are becoming all the rage. The round, floating keycaps are reminiscent of the typewriters of yore, and they are also comfortable to type on. They offer a distinctive look, and often come in fun colors and color combinations that allow you to make your desktop setup look very cool. This is a retro-style mechanical keyboard with linear key switches and with RGB backlighting. Its keys are made of ABS plastic, and the keys allow the white backlighting to shine through the keycaps so you can see while typing in the dark. This keyboard has an integrated rechargeable battery so you don't have to worry about having external batteries on hand to replace to keep this keyboard working. The keyboard comes with a USB-C cable that you can use to charge the battery, or you can use the cable to have the keyboard in wired mode if you prefer. You will need the cable connected to a computer if you want to use the driver software to change the settings on the keyboard. The cable is a cute cool blue that matches the keyboard case. The keyboard has a leather-like material finish on the sides and the bottom outside of the case that gives it a unique texture. It also has four rubber feet, two on the front and two near the back that are a little higher. They angle the keyboard upwards for better ergonomics. The keyboard also comes with a USB dongle that is used to connect the keyboard to your computer wirelessly. It also has options for connecting two Bluetooth devices if you prefer to use a Bluetooth connection rather than the dongle. You can use multiple connections and switch between them with the Fn key. I like the fact that this keyboard has a separate function layer so you won't have to use Fn + number keys to access the function layer. For gaming, this is great because many times the F1-F12 keys have special functions like quick save, that you can access easily if you have a dedicated set of function keys. This keyboard also has the dedicated arrow keys., plus all the special keys from the key cluster in a reduced layout. The driver software is available on the Ajazz website and is easy to use, but does require you to use the USB connection to change and save the settings to the keyboard. I wish there was a way to make the keys with PBT plastic rather than ABS, but then the keys would not allow the legends to be illuminated. The style of this keyboard, combined with the color, switches, and function make it one of my favorite keyboards to type on. It has a lot of personality, and it has all the features that I would want from a reduced layout, mechanical keyboard. I recommend this keyboard to anyone who wants to customize their gaming setup, and who likes the retro look and feel. This typewriter style keyboard looks and feels amazing. I have this keyboard in both colors (blue and also this pink/white one) and my wife uses it at her home-office work desk. I also have several other mechanical keyboards with different RGB colors and better lighting options. But this is the keyboard that will catch the eye of visitors and we have had several people (all girls) admire the look and feel of this keyboard. My other keyboards don’t even get a glance. The curved white case is very soft and smooth, and it’s very compact which makes it ideal to free up desk space. The keycaps are just over half-length, revealing the white LEDs and Huano red switches, visible from the side of the keyboard. The keyboard is plug and play. Just plug in the USB stick and it automatically registers wirelessly on the 2.4G network. The charging cable is USB-C (keyboard) to USB-A (to wall outlet or laptop). I used it with Windows 11 and 10, and it was plug and play on both PCs. It also offers Bluetooth connectivity, allowing you to eliminate 2.4G USB receivers and wires. You can also connect it in wired mode using the charging cable. It comes by default on the 2.4G mode, but you can switch modes to Bluetooth or wired mode by toggling FN plus home (wired), or page down (Bluetooth). It comes with 3 pin Huano red switches. The switches look similar in physical appearance to a Cherry MX standard red switch. The switches are linear, and have a smooth feeling. The sound is a bit soft for a mechanical switch, and the leather case covering helps to further mute the sound. The switches give it a real mechanical feeling compared to the soft vibration absorbing rubber backing on most keyboards these days. In addition, here are some additional observations: 1. Unfortunately, while the keyboard has 16 different background lighting effects, it only has one color (white). You can switch through the options by hitting FN + print screen. I would have preferred some different color options. You can also increase or decrease the brightness, or turn it off to save battery. The battery pack is 1500 mAh, and holds it charge for quite some time. 2. There’s not much in the way of ergonomic features, and the angle of the keys is not that great. This keyboard would be a poor choice if you are prone to typing-related wrist injuries. 3. The circular key caps are a nice novelty. I have large hands and I was worried that the compact design wouldn’t work well for me, but this keyboard has good feel and I didn’t encounter too many typing issues like I usually do with smaller keyboards. But I did encounter some issues, especially on the bottom row, so I think this keyboard is best suited for people with a smaller to average hand size. 4. I didn’t realize until after using this keyboard how much I would miss having a number pad. 5. Maybe I’m just not too familiar with this smaller keyboard size, but I spend a lot of time having to search for keys that I would know without looking on a full-size keyboard. If you’re coming from a full-size keyboard this one takes some time to get used to. 6. The bottom of the keyboard has rubber feet, which are held in place with double sided tape.
