1 block overfills a 64 quart container! This is just a supplement to your soil, not actually soil. Meant to replace peat moss, is a sustainable product peat moss is not sustainable. Works great for starting seeds fertilizer is not necessary for seedlings but if you use for gardening you will need to add some other components like perlite, or vermiculite as well you will need to add something containing fertilizer, like potting soil or Osmocote fertilizer as coco coir contains no nutrients. I mix mine with topsoil, perlite, Osmocote/composted manure. I don't worry about salt content as I use to plant carrots and golden berries that are naturally salt resistant.
